okay, solution potentially achieved.

just need a nerd with code editing privileges to edit the 'overall_header.tpl' file (wherever it resides), and paste the following after <head> and before </head>

then to have an image, you'll do it at so:

Code:

[card]Ajani Goldmane[/card]

it's not case sensitive, but spelling and punctuation of course count

edit: giving me a temporary account with such privileges wouldn't be a bad idea in the event that this client-side solution doesn't work and i need to edit the .php code instead

Found an even simpler solution:

Code:

1) Admin Control Panel
2) 'POSTING' tab
3) 'Add a new BBCode'
4) In 'BBCode usage' add:
   [card]{SIMPLETEXT}[/card]
5) In 'HTML replacement' add:
   <img src="http://gatherer.wizards.com/Handlers/Image.ashx?name={SIMPLETEXT}&type=card" />
6) In 'Help line' add:
   [card]card name[/card] to display a Magic: The Gathering card image
7) Check the 'Display on posting page' button

i used to go to their friday night magic events a bunch last summer
however, losing to people who literally spent $500+ on their deck over and over stopped being fun real quick

and yeah that looks good
infect decks are sick if played right

I assume what they want is something like this but for MTG Cards.

that'll do what the wowhead thing does 'close enough' in that it only needs to be tweeked to allow for the image to appear right at your cursor

Well then come with me and just duel me! That way you can look like a total pro in comparison. It might not hold the same crowd anymore either. Oh, and they do that thing where everybody buys a booster, you take a card, and pass the rest to the person on the left/right or whatever...

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the girl I used to date is now dating a hardcore mtg player. So I have reasons not to go too but I still want to.
