Actually, we're in unison on all counts there. You simply misconstrued my point; I don't hold most of the mass media in high regard, nor do I consider most definitively mainstream entertainment publications (Entertainment Weekly, Access Hollywood, Variety, etc.) to be credible in the least.
The process is what I take issue with. Rarely will an editor outright
force censorship as Cziiki's did, since any aligned special interests are usually brought into play more subtly and, in most cases, much earlier. (And to be fair, his conflict likely wasn't even one of advertiser versus writer --- his editor seemed to be, to put it quite lightly, a fucking idiot.)
