Honestly though am I missing something or does the game seem to lack a strong pull? It's cool for the first 20 levels but after that it just feels like endlessly more of the same. I still haven't heard anything about endgame. (And yes the eye-rolling feminist crap dramatically reduces the appeal).

It's starting to look suspiciously like D3, at least to me.

am I the only one with no interest in guild wars 2?

I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the game (probably not)

or if I just don't want to let myself get into another MMO (I believe this is most likely)

or if I can't seem to find the gnome warlock option?

I think Tuhl and I are in the same boat.

Prob going to spend a lot more time on LoL since they destroyed Rogues (lol Shadow Dance and recup nerfs)

I leave it WoW was the first and WoW will be the last.

Had someone explain it as a mediocre WoW clone that looked nice.

And someone else said it was worth it for up to about level 25, at which point it's repetitive AIDS-land.

So I'm gonna continue not bothering.

The latter comment is accurate. The former comment is not. It lacks the intangible qualities that made Vanilla WoW so compelling, but the structure of the game itself is definitely an evolutionary leap past the WoW/EQ paradigm.

I think what GW2 lacks is a sense of mystery, danger and continuity.
The world is big and expansive, but it just doesn't draw you in the way Vanilla did. There isn't a sense of a center nor remoteness (because all questing is uniform) and that defeats the player's desire to explore. There isn't a sense that there is a place where the bad guys have the upper hand. The game world as a whole has a shared lore, but there isn't any sense of plot progression in the game itself. Perhaps the most serious flaw is that in that the game is designed for completionism, it makes itself unnecessarily grindy. And I will concede that I believe that it is at least in part because of female influence that the game has these damning flaws.

GW2 is the best example I have ever seen of that fine line between brilliance and genius. The game is technically brilliant and polished, nearly bug-free, definitely the smoothest and best-engineered MMO ever - above WoW - but the whole is sadly devoid of that spark of genius that brought WoW alive.

If GW2 had that spark, it would definitely be the best game of all time.

Unless you're talking about level 90 I wouldn't worry about it. The pre-patch always screws up the endgame of the former expansion.

Shadow Dance uses the Stealth bar now. That's not going to change at 90. Not is shitty poison talents taking up what could be two cooler options.

By the time I was in the 70s, I was just hoping I would be done with leveling/hearts. Everything became "kill Risen" ad nauseam. As far as end game goes, I maintain that dungeons are poorly tuned or designed at the moment. Similarly to D3, it seems that Arena Net tuned the dungeons so that they have 10x the hp and 10x the damage that they ought to (stray ranged autoattacks will take out 80% of your hp). I successfully completed a couple of dungeons on explorable mode through endless kiting and waypoint zerging, and I hope that it's because the game is new and I'm bad, but I'm skeptical.

Even if dungeons were more tolerable, I think that end-game will have a limited amount of appeal. Your options seem to be to zerg-fest dynamic events until you have enough karma for whatever you want, collect dungeon tokens for gear (praying this becomes a bit more fun), craft, and PvP (which, in all fairness, I think WvW can be legitimately fun, and sPvP might be as well, for arena junkies).

I do believe the game has potential as a casual completionist game, but there just isn't enough stuff to do (look at how easy most of the achievements are, including lifetime survivor; I've already maxed out many of the slaying achievements without trying at all)... and what there IS to do is indeed grindy.

Agreed, and I also believe that they didn't follow through with the promise that events in the game would have any sort of meaningful impact on the zone. They are very short-lived and very similar.

Spoiler (highlight to view):
Cursed shore/Orr is the only place that I thought the bad guys had the upper hand

I meant their talents really, there are certainly "options" but there's clear winners in (almost) every tier.

I haven't been able to stay logged in for more than half an hour since I hit 20 > <

Part of it is I hate leveling in EVERY mmo. I'm a dungeon/raid hanging out with people doing stuff kind of person. My first WoW toon took me FOREVER to get to 60(like 10 months >.>). Mostly because the only time I played was when my RL friends were on so I could chat with them while I did stuff. I mostly did instances and mob grinding(my hate for quests took me a LONG time to get over, I didn't really get into them till BC came out), to be fair I was splitting time on the account with my brother AND I spent a lot of time on professions(and a couple alts).

But ever since I got into raiding there was something there driving me to level quickly, I just am not seeing that something in GW2 to force me to do shit I don't want to do. Doesn't help that every <3-quest is EXACTLY the same as well, with the options of 1) Kill something 2) /use something and 3) find something and carry it to some dude.

The lack of actual GUILD presence is hurting it for me as well. Not just that I am not in a guild, but that I can't even figure out how to look for one, can't easily tell who is in what guild, maybe if I wasn't 22nd level I would see it tho :[

Well that was one of the strengths of WoW, player control over group formation during lowbie instances and questing. Unfortunately, in an effort to put supreme emphasis on non-confrontation through non-grouped content and automated tools, GW2 design vacillates the ways in which great communities were formed. Indeed, Blizzard themselves have completely lost sight of how that kind of player powered structure made Vanilla great through the same flawed "innovations".

And yeah Hoen I def agree about the group experience making MMOs fun and that being wanting in GW2

Sweet! I get in just in time for you bitches to start complaining about the game. Oh well. :P I'm enjoying my Charr Mesmer, but the clones feel slightly clunky. Once I get used to the controls/learn how to keybind it'll be a lot easier.

Also, my audio port isn't working. :( I fucked up bootcamp's driver install and now the only setting my audio has is for some high def audio that I can't play so it's basically like I have no audio. Tomorrow I'm going to a friend's house where I can borrow his snow leopard CDs so I can fix the audio driver.

Also, backspace quickness is FAST with google chrome. Now I can be anal about what I write online in half the speed.

Edit: James, PM or post your server name that you're going to switch to.
