You think about it, it validates the perception of the British as a cowardly people. Only cowards would derive comfort from or be favorably influenced by that sort of thing.

My point is that the data extrapolated from the images is the property of Blizzard and bears virtually no significance in anyone's life.

The legal premise being used to defend this is an slippery slope with no clear bottom.

Even were that not so, this conduct is inherently dishonest and intrusive and therefore creepy. Does behavior that is "creepy" have to be significant to be offensive and unacceptable? If it doesn't have to be proven that stalkers are planning some evil for their behavior to be considered unacceptable, why should corps be regarded any different?

would you actually want to know all the ways you are probably monitored? i sure don't. i mean, if i were doing illegal or questionable things, i might be concerned with who's watching and what they're watching, but i would say the effects of this so-called "voyeurism" are only felt by less than 1% of the player population.

but just to try and see it from your perspective, you think it's inappropriate because they didn't tell you?

also, a quick caveat: corporations should be treated differently because they are after your money, not your butt hole.

Basically everyone does something that someone else would find questionable or that could be used against them in some way. The Fifth Amendment exists for a reason.

i think it's their property and they can do what they want with it. all of the lines in the EULA are ambiguously multifarious, so i just expected to have everything known about me by blizzard. doesn't bother me.

There are laws against discriminating against former members of the armed forces in employment, implying that some people be inclined to do so. Conversely, should Blizzard for any reason choose to discriminate against you for any reason you might see as equally arbitrary or silly, you wouldn't have a problem with it?

What if, say, they learned you were ejected from Wal-Mart and on that basis had reason to believe you were more likely to be a risk factor in social dealings in-game, so they put you on the short watch? Or anything else equally silly based on some loose correlation with elements of your private life?

that's an awful lot of conjectures drawn from the simple issue of blizzard watermarking images generated by a function of their client. you're right though, it's a slippery slope, but i do like to think that the more information that easily is available essentially buries those searching for specifics. perhaps that's my rationale for what i know i'll never be able to control.

also, i'd like to add that incidentally, i can understand analogies that aren't military related. i'm not in the military anymore and i'm trying to get it to stop defining me.

The problem is when specifics can be easily correlated via vast databases of information held by the private sector.

i'm honestly shocked that you wouldn't expect something like this. how do you think people actually enforce those NDAs for closed betas?
