no one won, America loses?
Pretty much. I was watching it for a good while, but then started to get a headache so I decided to watch Anchorman with the gf.
A couple takeaways:
- The moderator was terrible and had no control over the thing...he let Obama/Romney run the debate.
- Romney impressed me by coming off as much more likeable than Obama in many instances. Obama seemed to be the doucheier of two douches at many points
- Anyone else notice Romney decided to go super centrist for this debate? We all know he won't be if elected...but it was interesting seeing a Republican trying to go middle of the road. Maybe the strategists have finally figured out that appealing to Bible-thumping conservative bigots in the south won't win you the election.
- I hate anecdotes "I talked to so and so in Ohio" or "I talked to this person" -- shut the fuck up, give me facts and statistics...anecdotal evidence is just fluff.
- I think Obama fucked up by not challenging Romney enough. Romney was able to construct his fanciful plan for how to fix the economy/country...but all Obama said was "the math doesn't add up" -- while it's true (unless you think the economy is going to grow the way romney says it will **circular logic alert**)...Obama needed to hit him harder. He should have owned him about the 47% stuff...he should have ripped on him over Bain.
Overall, I think Romney helped his campaign and Obama hurt his.
Still, America lost. I wish we didn't live in a fascist country that refuses to allow third party candidates to debate.
Politics have become such a dog and pony show, it makes me sick to my stomach.
