Anyone gonna get it?

I think I'm going to. I do enjoy the Revolutionary War (chance to kill a bunch of filthy Red Coats? Sign me up!) and loved the first two games. Yes there are parts of it that get quite repetitive...but I really don't mind assassinating people and free running on rooftops. It's just so fun.

Though, I am really pissed Philadelphia isn't a playable city. According to the devs:

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/26/assas ... ladelphia/

Quote:
"Well it's on a grid and it's flat, and the avenues are super large. So that's like three things that made us say it doesn't work in an open world." Indeed, Philadelphia was architecturally laid out as a grid by Pennsylvania's first governor William Penn, modeled after European cities of the time.

So basically the city was planned out too well.

I guess there will be some cut scenes in Philly. Still, a Revolutionary War era game without Philly as a playable city seems weird.

Boston and NY are playable cities, as well as the "frontier" and settlements of Lexington, Concord and Charlestown.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it.

But I have to wait until 11/20 because I'm not a filthy console peasant.

I played Brotherhood and Revelations, starting out pretty cynical about their merit, but I enjoyed them. Well worth the 12 bucks I spent on the pair.

The more I learn about the AC universe and story, the less I know.

Yeah, I find it impossible to figure out what the fuck is going on in the "present." Something about the end of the world.

When it comes to story lines, I just focus on what's going on in the "past" since it's much easier to follow.

My xbox broke and I made the mistake of buying AC2 for the PC. I made it to the part where you're a baby before I ragequit and never picked it up again.

Don't tell me to push the "foot" button and then refuse to tell me what the "foot" button is, Ubisoft.

Haven't played AC on the PC (being an inferior peasant and all)...but I can't imagine the controls being as fun as free running with a controller.

When it comes to shooters...PC hands down, but I feel like a game like Assassin's Creed shines more with a controller.

I'm also trying to figure out how being that guy with the grey hood that they were just chasing is negated by standing with a group of dancing Romanies.

Or how that guard 50 yards away can't see me on this roof with clear line of sight.

I find a fundamental flaw with just about every game revolved around stealth, and that is those you are sneaking around are fucking stupid or blind. Of course, if enemies acted in a realistic way, with realistic attributes, these games would basically be completely impossible, or would have to be made less fantastic.

I agree, and I use an Xbox controller. I use it for a number of games. Like Tomb Raider and Musical Asteroids I mean Beat Hazard.

I'm also kinda pissed about the vastly prolonged release date for PC.

The hell is that all about?

Guess I'll practice killing ineffective guards from stealth with Tenchu in the mean time.

My wife wants me to get it for the 360 so she can follow the story, as she's tried to do with all the other games in the series. I want to get it for the PC because I've evolved to MASTER RACE.

I heard it was 100% historically accurate.

i tried to play one of them last year and had to punish myself to even play it for 3 hours or so. i thought running around the world was cool, but that's about it. combat was even less involving then the arkham games, which is saying something.

At only three hours in you wouldn't find any challenging fights. A pack of Janissaries, my god...

Tomb Raider with the Assassins Creed controls. Yes?

I was thinking about it... Probably not though. I hear it's exactly the same as the last 3.

I got through 2 just fine but couldn't finish anything after that.

The whole "BOO SPOOKY ALIENS" thing at the end of 2 was the first time I literally yelled "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?!" at my computer.

I haven't picked up any of the three or four games after.
