There is some truth to this, but the fact is, there is limited black mobility and access in the North...and none in the South.
Nor is it really fair to say the South is "honest". They like to pretend to be welcoming, amiable and traditional people, but only within their microscopic comfort zone. They like to pretend to be moral, but they are completely indifferent to the culture of immorality they live with. They like to pretend they hold their beliefs impartially, but the same Southerners who damn blacks for being lazy, ignorant and unfaithful don't seem to have a problem with white chicks getting knocked up in high school, or embracing ignorance as a way of life.
And an average black man's chance of being subjected to a random ass whuppin by white cops in the North <<<<<<<<<< the South.
The counter-argument to "Southern honesty" is the world of
Seinfeld. People disdain New Yorkers for being dicks, but in reality, they are just much more honest about their dickishness than the rest of the world. That especially includes the South - and California.
