They don't tip in the Netherlands and the service there is absolutely horrible compared to the states. Then again, in Germany they don't tip a lot either (its customary to just give them the coins left over from your meal, maybe with an extra euro if they were spectacular) and the service there was beyond professional and my server spoke 3 languages.

Then again, I think servers in germany are professionals and are paid a very hefty amount of money.

And the one-Euro unit is a coin and unavailable in bill form.
