TLDR fat woman too fat to get on 3 different air planes and dies of kidney failure in hungary. Husband blames 3 airlines, lawsuit certain to follow.

So, anyone care to tell me why they didn't go to a hungarian hospital?

Fwiw Hungary is one of the poorest countries in the EU, and its citizens are still way better-off than those of any poor US state (say, WV or MI). You don't think fat people, or even people of ordinary health, die of preventable conditions in poor US states all the time?

The reason this person had to go to a US hospital was that for all the blather about the EU medical system inviting irresponsibility, it is working exactly as it should. A fat whale has to pay out of pocket for treatment instead of getting paid off by everyone else. The US medical system is the best money can buy - but almost no one can.

The article just proves that right-wingers don't hate socialist medical systems because they're wasteful, they hate them on principle. They are opposed to the very idea of rational distribution of medical care.

EDIT: To answer your question, USD, I imagine that the US would be the best place to get healthcare for fat people (and the best doctors that specialize in fat people), mainly because we have the largest amount of them.

Well the problem was kidney failure, and kidney failure doesn't kill you in a day. I'm guessing this condition has been plaguing the fatty for a while now, and she could easily have gone to the hospital, called up her doctors in the states to send a file over, and handed them to her new doctor.

The woman in question is a wealthy Hungarian. It's probable that conditions at the airport (e.g., physical discomfort and dehydration) aggravated her condition.

In any event, too many pieces of the picture are missing. All we know is that a wealthy tub of lard died and now her butthurt family is suing. The US medical system will not treat healthy poor people but it will treat obese rich people, and the EU medical system is the opposite.
