can you correct this for me? i don't trust online translators. different sites give me different translations. i realize the subject matter is painfully elementary and my mistakes are probably just as painful, but it would help. it's for my final.

Chers Monsieur et Madame Montagnier,

Bonjour!

i'm not asking anyone to rewrite it or anything, just point out a couple mistakes for me, or awkward sentences, etc. i realize the whole thing is pretty much gibberish, just point out the really BIG mistakes please.

Your first big mistake was taking French.

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Paul Jorgenson. (this is fine)

(swapped the location of bientôt, but otherwise good)

Je suis nerveux pour manger français. (I am nervous to eat french?

(In this letter, I talk about what I like eating. If that's what you meant, it's fine)

(I also talk about what I like dining room and my favorite dessert. Not sure what you intended in the middle there)

Vous aimerez m'avoir dans votre maison! (minor edits done)

(fine)

Vous ne vous inquiétez pas! (still fine)

(minor edits)

Je bois du thé le matin. (fine)

Je mange des céréales quelques jours. (fine)

J'aime la Frankenberry beaucoup. (assuming Frankenberry is feminine, because other berries are feminine)

(if you mean ice tea, that's "thé glacé")

Le dîner est mon repas préféré. (fine)

Je peux manger beaucoup. (fine)

(this is all fine, but "steak frites" means steak with fries, not fried steak)

(all fine)

(fixed, still looks awkward, but it's functionally correct)

(minor edit)

Il est très bien. (if you mean the pie, it's "elle est très bonne." If you mean your dad, it's "il est très bon.")

Merci de regarder ma lettre. (lettre is feminine)

Je vais voyager bientôt. (fine)

I wish I took French instead of Spanish. My dad (6 languages) and grandfather (8 languages) both spoke fluent French. It may be 8000x less useful, but it's at least 8000x more fun to speak.

Which is clearly more important, else one loses interest.

Hang on guys, now it's time to do language impressions.

A bit of Hebrew, first: "What? Fuck no I won't pay for that. Reasonably priced my ass, watch me make a scene."

And now, yiddish: "Head to the showers? I don't see the harm in that..."

You're both being massive cunts. Cut it out.

Besides, Hebrew is more like, "I Can't Believe It's Not Musselman-Speak", and Yiddish is more like, "Jewish Ebonics: 25,000 different ways to express annoyance at your in-laws' stupidity, lack of taste, illegitimate birth, and social mannerisms, while pissing off every native speaker of German in earshot."

French is more like, "What to speak while making that bird-like French person mannerism and pissing off native speakers of English who have to listen to awkward run-on sentences with five commas because the language translates into English worse than any other European tongue."

And Fanta is wrong too. French > Spanish. Non-native speakers of French are in far shorter supply, and there are more people worth talking to and books worth reading in French than Spanish. French also has more subtle meaning lost in translation than Spanish.

Incidentally, I bought an instruction manual for elementary modern Hebrew today. I was at the local used book store, looking for an instruction manual for French, but a Hebrew manual spawned instead. I have decided I really want to learn both languages. Hopefully a French manual will spawn next time I stop by.

There are a lot of things I want to do to improve my life, actually, but I find it hard to be motivated without other people in my immediate life. It bothers me deeply to say that.

French > Spanish?

Tell me Aestu, how many people in the world are french speakers as opposed to spanish speakers?

What is the fastest growing demographic in America?

Sure, there are fewer non-native french speakers, but there's a much smaller need for them. When you go to places like Texas, Florida, California, pockets of cities in the north...is French written everywhere?

French is a beautiful language no doubt. But from a pure utilitarian standpoint Spanish wins hands down.

i'm with ethan on this one. french is more commonly spoken than spanish in europe and canada. not to mention, a lot of middle eastern countries double up with french.

spanish is also ugly sounding and doesn't have much to contribute in the arena of literature and art.
