I would like a warm coat and some new pants. That's it.

Maybe some nerf guns.

This. Though I hate it when people get me long sleeved shirts. They've never seen me wear such a thing because I never wear such a thing. The shirts always end up in the big red donation mailboxes.

I usually hate getting clothes too because the people with the awesome fashion sense aren't the ones doing the buying. It is my mom bringing gaudy t-shirts from their travels or my color blind friend with the ugly, ill fitting sweater.

For my family:

Sharp cheddar for Mom
Elderberry jam for Dad
Pumpkin butter for Sister & Brother-in-Law

For gf's family:
Yugioh card for her bro
Elephant ear-rings for her adopted sister
Yes album for her dad
Really old iron pot for her mom

Gf complains of lack of feminine clothes so I'm buying her a dress. Don't care if clothes are bad gifts, she should have a nice dress.

I'll buy one if you buy the other.

We also need a camera to record the following sword fight.

I couldn't find a better picture - look closely at the title of the one on the right.

No offense, but isn't your girlfriend's family poor? How hard can it be?

Tell us about them... what do they enjoy? What sort of people are they?

I wouldn't call them poor... they are just simple country folk. Her dad likes fishing and stuff, but I'm pretty sure everyone is getting him something to do with that. I have no idea about her mom really... other than she likes plants and flowers etc. has little pots of stuff everywhere. Her sister is pregnant, maybe something baby'ish idk. Might just say fuck it and get them all gift cards.

This will be much easier than I thought.

What about you, Euphonic? What do you enjoy, besides video games? What does your family do for fun?

Also, how cold are the winters and how warm are the summers where you live?

I don't really enjoy much of anything anymore, I work my 40 hours a week. And pretty much loaf around the rest of the time. My family is super boring, they don't have fun. Both my parents still work too. They just work and come home and bitch. But i'm hardly around to hear it, thankfully.

Why are you asking about the weather haha? It's mild all year. I wouldn't call any season that extreme.

What makes your problem deceptively easy is the fact that the entire appeal of fishing and gardening is playing with the toys. People who fish or garden can NEVER have enough crap for their hobbies.

You are no doubt more technically inclined than her father, and, because you are of our generation, you have somewhat geographically broader cultural experience. For example, you like Japanime. Therefore, it is logical to get him a gift that in some way brings your experience to his preferred hobby. So you could get him a Japanese knife or pot or something like that which would have superior utility for him as a fisherman but would be completely outside his experience. Or maybe some sort of technological gadget, like a rangefinder.

There are also the implements you use at your car wash, which might have some unlikely application for fishing or gardening - for example, do you have touch-up tools, pads, mats, cloths, that sort of thing?

Same with his wife. Get her some sort of tool that could be used for gardening, something that is within your experience but would be useful for her purposes. Besides that, the most simple gifts you could get her would be some sort of arm brace, a kneeling pad, or a tablespread for her to work on. You could also buy her a bag of Ironite (the physical act of bringing it to her house would be very significant, as it is extremely heavy and hard for an old woman to work with), or even a "gift certificate" for "4 hours of digging holes in your garden". Don't underestimate how significant that would be for her. Besides, you'd look sexy doing it and be able to guilt-trip your girlfriend into taking her clothes off.

And yes something child-centered would be good. I posted a list of recommended childrens' books...another possible gift would be maternity wear. You could also be totally tasteless and make your woman /facepalm by buying her a breast pump.
