Is that a carton of french fries sticking out of its back? Or is it some kind of destructive alien plague fungus?

Jesus Christ apparently I've been missing out on all sorts of weird psychedelic shit by never having played pokémon.

I'd say that looks way more like candy corn.

Because you hate your life and haven't found any better ideas on how to change that. No offense.

You should do what I do. Spend your free time lurking in thrift stores (although I'd imagine Canadian ones are probably less interesting because your population is less diverse and you get less foreign churn) and writing egotistical journal entries. Maybe you should also try cooking.

The key to finding happiness is to realize that the world sucks. Once you realize that, you can stop blaming yourself for being unhappy with it and develop a healthy sense of conceit.

My BFFs son got one for Christmas and it is pretty fun to fiddle around with. I still prefer mine because of the Acekard.

Played through Pokemon Platinum.

I think it is actually one of the best of the series - it meshes the respective strengths of the DS and GBA series well, it feels faster, more responsive and better balanced than Black/White. Given that Platinum is substantially cheaper than most other Pokemon games and seemed generally overlooked/maligned, I found this surprising.

Despite being set in its own region, the game offers a good selection of Pokemon from all regions, keeping the "another iteration of Caterpie/Abra/Pikachu/Rattata" and other lineup staples to a minimum, while offering a good selection between different variations.

Pokemon games, like the Final Fantasy series, seem to have that frustrating quality that each iteration of the genre does something better than all the others, but no one game of the series appears to do everything as well as it could be done. Platinum's unique strength is that it often feels much more like a classic RPG (e.g., the Distortion World, which I really wish was bigger and more expansive, like the final dungeon of a FF game). The dialogue is substantially better and more engaging than most Pokemon games and far better than B/W. The plot is actually surprisingly suspenseful, by Pokemon standards.

My favorite quote was "Take anything that can be taken! Destroy anything that is not needed! That is Team Galactic policy!" You guys have policy wonks? I want to meet them... I find "lost-in-translation" an endearing quality in any video game.

I miss the long pokedex entries of the ruby/sapphire/emerald days. I hope they make a really informative pokedex one day, akin to the one in the show.

I really liked the abundance of time-based events in Crystal, the ton of sidequests and minigames in Emerald, and HG/SS's Pokewalker thing and ribbon collecting.

RSE had the best flow, playability, palette and interface responsiveness I think.

I think G/S/C was the greatest still. The gyms were tough, the Elite 4 was tough and you still had to beat Ash at the end of it all. Seconding daily events and such as well.
