Boo, turns out this will be my last trip to Chicago.
My next assignment will likely be in either Denver, CO, or Herndon, VA. I think there is a slight chance I'll get somewhere in CA, so sure where though.

I'd still have to travel, it would have just been a more central location. I did not mean to imply that your time was worth any less than mine, was merely asking for flexibility because I have to work that day. We could have picked a place close to that intersection I mentioned.

It's not just that. I am moving, so I will be carrying a ton of stuff. I'll barely be able to walk.

We can choose a better time, I suppose. I'll be in Cincinnati from now on, so I'll be across the proverbial town. On the much nastier side, of course.

Sorry to take offense. I can't imagine that you can't take a day - or half - off, though.

I used to feel that way about taking time off...then I got an actual professional job and now I understand the constraints some other people have to deal with when scheduling around large projects and such.

Perhaps, but is that what this is about? No - this is a social occasion. Our respective walks in life have nothing to do with the meeting. Or would you say that my initial interpretation of what Azelma said was correct, Rikki?

I am travelling 1500 miles to Chicago from Boston to meet with Azelma - or rather, I have the good fortune to be passing through. A visit to the train station in one's hometown, is quite the lesser half of the trip to meet up, no? Even if I wasn't carrying a ton of shit, it would be unwise for me to leave the station for fear of missing the next train, and it would take me more time and trouble to meet Azelma than it would him to meet me, simply because I don't know the city and he does.

It's a bit rich how Rikki the philandering counterculturist morphs into Rikki the smug yuppie and advocate of the status quo as soon as he makes his way into a jerb paying more than minimum wage. Irony or human nature? Neither. People never change. Old dogs only know so many tricks. Loyalty to Mazeltov.

Anyway, the issue is unfortunately exaggerated. My fault, I guess. I'll be living in the neighborhood, so we can always meet up later. It is something I think should happen. It would be interesting, I think. And fun. I think that if we don't meet, that would be unfortunate, something lost.
