Ergh...

I meant to come down Thursday, but due to all the BS with the big order, my sleep cycle was totally jacked and I ended up sleeping until coming down would have been pointless.

My bad. I'll try to make it up to you when I come visit NC later.

Your Pal,
Jubber

Now that I'm done blushing, I will. If you want to call, text me first and let me know it's you. I don't generally answer if I don't recognize the number (and by recognize, I mean my phone tells me who it is because they're in my contacts). I'm not always available for calls, because my work and sleep hours are weird, but I make space for my pals when I can.

And Rikki, I am seriously not happy about missing you while you were here. I will definitely make some time for you and USD (and anyone else in that area) when I finally get back down to the Raleigh area.

Your Pal,
Jubber

Dear Nerds,

I should be arriving in Herndon, VA Sunday (2/10/13) night, and will be leaving Thursday (2/14/13) night. I haven't booked my hotel yet, but will likely be staying at the Embassy Suites there ( Site | Map ).
Please don't let me down this time.

Love,
Rikkilake

P.S. My current contract-thing is through 4/30/13.

What exactly do you do, anyway?

Since you work in IT, get absurd perks for your qualifications, never specify exactly what it is you do, and shuttle between VA and Denver, it's logical to conclude you're a contractor working on the IT connected with the CIA's domestic surveillance unit (which has been getting more funding lately and moving operations from Herdon to Denver).

Interesting, elaborate.

I'm not critical or disbelieving, curious.

Companies buy a license for it, I'm then contracted out to help get their implementation up and running. Not a one-man-show, but size varies based on size of the project (last project was four developers at its peak, next one is ~20 I think).

Interesting, you may be a philandering douchebag but your line of work sounds solid. Grats on making it happen, mon.

It occurred to me you must meet a lot of idiots in suits in your job.

I think you'll be in luck this time. I'm off Wednesday/Thursday this week, and unless a certain someone calls me and tells me how awesome I am and says "please come spend time with me" I have no plans. YOU can be my super-special Valentine, you butt-loving fool.

Oh, and I work nights, so we might be able to work out dinner on Monday/Tuesday if you want. I'm sure my boss would let me slide out for a bit now that there are two or three people in the office at night (and God do I hate that)...or I could come pick you up and we could grab something to eat on the way back to my office so I can show you the groovy 80s/90s technology that pays my bills.

Your Pal,
Jubber

Well, you are a 'certain someone.' Sorry Rikki, looks like I'm road-tripping.

J/K--too short a notice for time off. We should figure something out so I can see my West Coast pals...which I think is just you and Simone. Are there any other West Coasters on the board? I can't think of any.

They wanted to send me to Vancouver for a week for a work thing, but I told my boss that I can't go until my back child support is completely caught up because I can't get a passport until then. That whole unemployed/underemployed for a year or so thing is still biting me in the ass. Once I'm done with that and I can travel outside the US again (which should be the end of this year), I'll volunteer for the next one, use the airfare and some vacation time, and make a trip down the coast.

I think the company office in Vancouver are only about 2 hours away from Seattle, so seeing Simone should be easy. I'd just have to fly down to OC like an OG and see you, Cally.

Your Pal,
Jubber
