Friend of mine owns the place. Been drinking at this chill, no drama, fun bar since I turned 21. First place I ever got drunk. Plenty of friends met through there, tons of good times, some heartbreak, lots of memories there.

Just had to find out over facebook that the bar sold and is transferring ownership april first. It's not an april fool's joke. It's the week of the biggest event of the year, 2 day concert/bar festival St Patty's celebration, everyone is already stressed and BAM. Bar is sold and I don't know if I'll have a job in two weeks.

On top of the roommate bullshit, a plumbing issue in my other bathroom that recently arose, and a possible leak into my crawl space, I am soooooooooo fucking mad.

That settles it.

FUBU needs to get together and open our own bar.

We'll call it "FUBU Brew"

I was actually in thoughts to open a gamer bar with arcade games, streamed tournaments etc. But after this company sells I don't know if I'll ever want to deal with the bullshit that is restauranteuring.

I've always wondered about this. Are gamers the type of people who even go to bars?

I guess there's that like middle ground between the total recluse gamer and the socially comfortable regular-bars gamer.

Well, think about how badly some gamers lose when they're sober.
Throw alcohol into the mix...

I've been to several "barcrafts" where they played League of Legends or Starcraft tournaments on the screens. It was last years MLG games and the bar floor where the floor dedicated to the barcraft had 2-3x as many people as the floor dedicated to the football game (the barcraft was all day Sunday).

I'm not sure if it would work as what the bar was built around though. Although I've heard that in certain areas (UC Irvine area or Silicon Valley) they have opened these types of bars with moderate success.

Restaurant regulations suck though. Just had to deal with a ton of bullshit in NYC. UGH!

Maybe it's just because I work in Seattle, but I'd say a large minority of my customer base has been gamers. Hell, we even have a group regulars that come in twice a week, drink beers, and play magic.

There's also a "themed" gamer bar about 20 minute south of Seattle - it's pretty good, but a bit too gimicky for my tastes. Most of the speakeasies in town are run by nerds too, so it's easy enough here to find good company.

You could call it the Experience Bar.

title immediately made me think of Image

anyway, that fucking sucks dude. :( wish there was some way we could help.

and i'm not sure about a bar centered around gaming. the problem with a gaming bar, or even a gaming lan center, is that most people have their own, so they don't want to go pay for it. you'd definitely have to have some other draw.

I went to a bar on Chicago with my cousins that had a bunch of video games. Couches set up in front of flat screens and Mario Kart and a bunch of other games. It was a lot of fun and it was pretty busy. The crowd was mixed, not straight up nerd.
