I finally got my final paycheck today in the mail. (14 days after my final day of work). It had a letter stating by cashing the check I cannot do anything to harm my old employer... God I hate stupid people.

I have nothing but respect for people who work in retail that need to. But, I know people who don't need to and do because "it's easier" or something to that effect. THAT is what i dont understand, that they think its worth it because it is slightly easier. Sincerest apologies if I have offended anyone, because I wouldn't ever look down on anyone in this world (unless they harmed me or someone I know, etc).

Again, conveying my feelings and thoughts via the written word is not my forte. Well, not on forums anyway. Please don't take what I've said as a slight or anything!

Sounds like someone's employer was breaking child labor laws.

In some states you can work at 14, I believe. I know my sister did when we lived in NY. That was like 13 or 14 years ago tho, not sure what the law's like now

I mowed lawns. 5 lawns a week at 20 bucks a pop means I was a rich fucking teenager.

Working under the table (or for "quasi-domestic" work such as lawns not as part of a company) is fine because it's basically already against the law. It's real companies that tend to watch their asses about that sort of thing.

What kind of business are you running nowadays? And are you hiring?

Marketing for universities. About 400+ web sites.

Devs are what we need nowadays...so hard to find good help.

That raises another thing...everyone in America should be taught how to code/program. The jobs exist, but companies can't find enough qualified people to fill them (it's also made the market insanely lucrative for the devs themselves).

In MN, if you're 14-15, the only rules I know about are; restrictions on what you can operate (age plebs weren't allowed to operate the oven - or was it the dough roller?), you can't be working during school hours and have to be off by 9 on school nights or 10 on non-school nights.

Highfive on getting hours. I hope you left in glorious fashion. I was mowing at work one day, and I was like... If I didn't like this job, I might be tempted to write "I QUIT" in the grass. I was still tempted to write something in it anyway. Something random and absurd.
