that EVERYTHING came together to make it the best you've experienced. The show, the music, the crowd, the drugs, the venue... what show did you see that you remember most?

I know with the over-saturation of the franchise (if that's the word for it) that Cirque du Soliel is becoming less jaw-dropping as it once was, but I saw La Nouba at Disneyworld right after it opened in 1998-ish, and I was completely blown away. With a venue built around the show, beautiful music played by killer musicians, an enthusiastic crowd, great seats and a little alcohol, it was a fantastic experience. I know...I know. You were expecting Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath or something from the old guy, but no.

Now you. Go.

Patrick Wolf's acoustic show last September. Small venue, just him and his best friend (she plays the violin) and some instruments (piano, ukulele, fiddle and a harp). He was engaging and adorable and he's a consummate musician.

This song live was just :333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

But I think the Magic Position live was the best, he kept the crowd engaged, paused half way through to teach some people the lyrics and get us to sing it with him. Even my dad was singing and clapping along which NEVER happens.

He's just delightful. And adorable.

Opeth, Starland Ballroom, 2009.

It was May, it was too hot in the venue, the crowd inside was huge, and it was the best damn show I've ever been to.

Turisas last year. Station 4 is small as shit compared to other venues but it's still awesome. Too bad the city of Minneapolis (or St. Paul, idk) forced them to put in a new ventilation system after ~3 years of delays. It was kinda necessary though. Always feels like 120 degrees in there and dat man stink afterwards.

Haven't been to a concert/show. Tomorrow Land looks like fun though!

I wanna joke and say Nsync - circa 1998 (because i got to go to it for free, even if i didn't want to)

But the one that always sticks in my mind:

Beardyman's Live Set at DEMF 2011...because I ran into him walking the festival grounds and got to chat with him and get photos...and he put Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus into his set because of my Depeche Mode jacket i was wearing when I met him...fucking greatest night ever.

Bonus: One of my friends at the festival got massively wasted and was throwing up in a portapotty when we found him and were talking with him...we still brag about it to him to piss him off.

The best show I can remember was Joy Formidable last March. Everything was perfect. Transportation wasn't a pain, the show was great, the rest of the audience was polite and friendly, I had a lot of beer, and I went with someone really awesome.

Did I get drunk at that show? I feel like I got drunk at that show.

Also, fuck that ventilation shit. That muggy atmosphere of sweat, body odor and the regret of non hackers made that place great.

Also also, Nov 12th, 2008, Ensiferum.

I've every intention of hitting Wacken Open Air and 70000 tons of metal though. Ask the same question a few years from now, and I'll be answering with one of those.

Not really sure... I went to an AFI/Death by Stereo concert when I was a teen and AFI was still a mostly unheard of punk band. It was pretty awesome. I was pushed up against the stage for most of the concert with mayhem going on all around me.

After the concert we went backstage (the drummer from DbS was a friend of the friends I was there with). We had an awesome time staying out all night in Hollywood with some of the band members. We took crazy pictures and ended up at Norms around 7am rehashing the night.

It was one of those nights you don't forget. For that night I felt invincible. Everytime I come across those pictures, or one of the tshirts they gave me, I smile :)

Haha yeah I get that a lot. I also haven't tried weed/any other drug unless you somehow count alcohol and hookah. I like my box!

Alcohol kinda got lumped in with drugs thanks to anti-drug efforts in schools. And when we say tobacco, we mean the nicotine-laced cigarette/chewed kind, some brands of the stuff in hookah don't have the addictive nicotine (e.g. Fantasia, the one I use)
