Easier here

because my rent is 500$/month, I don't own a car, obamacare ensures I don't have to think about insurance, and I only have one credit card. Add to that I don't have to pay for anything but eating out and transportation in NYC and the plane ticket is never more than 350$....

my rent is also 500/month, I don't own a car or want to drive for that matter, CANADA, one credit card. A one way plane ticket to NYC (from Ottawa mind you) would probably be around $300!

ps. I have no idea what this is about.

At what size? An all in one kitchen/living room/sleeping room with a bathroom that only has a shower?

(this is assuming roommates, obviously; 800/month doesn't exist for anything but a studio if you live alone)

Okay, I'm glad that's cleared up, I was about to call major BullShit on $800 a month rent in NYC.

I know my sister has a small Studio and pays over $1000 in Manhattan. I also know in trendy areas of Brooklyn (Williamsburg) rent is just obscene.

My current employer offers insurance to even part timers (along with pto after a year, quarterly raises, and transportation subsidies), but the Obama care comment is because I can stay on my parents insurance. Wooooo, ty amazon!

I am going to miss the perks of this job though.

Regardless of the idiocy of our elected officials (of all persuasions), I hope you enjoy your move and everything works out to your happiness and such.
