In other news, I received 10 extra credit points on my American Government exam for listening to an hour long rant on big government by a super right wing professor. The professor came from a different college and spoke in our lecture auditorium (Our only one, I believe.)

I want to move out of North Carolina so badly =(

If you're looking to move out of NC because there's racists here, good luck finding somewhere without racists.

Its pretty different when the racists are in power and are being pretty blatant about it.

Wasn't the first thing NC cut during the government shutdown was a massive chunk of its SNAP program even though they were sitting on a couple hundred million in an emergency relief fund?

(PS: NC is the perfect example of how "both parties are equally awful" is total bullshit, especially in today's political climate of No True Conservative)

Or, it's the only place in the country where they're dumb enough to get caught.

Nah, they're the only ones who have drank so much of their own Kool Aid that they think they can go on the Daily Show, spout a bunch of racist shit, and expect that everyone stands and applauds. Let's not forget about main frontrunners Arizona and Texas.

EDIT: Not especially racist, but whatever state has that guy running on the Tea Party ticket where he was railing against foodstamps and welfare even though he has something like ten kids with every single one of them getting government assistance gets a gold star also.

It's really funny to me that you seem to think that racism is bound by region.

Wherever would I get the idea that Arizona and Texas were racist places?

Let's not forget that there was a study that came out a while ago that (SURPRISE!) there's bigger racial tensions in former Confederate and Jim Crow states. You know, the places that the flag representing our history our slavery and the biggest act of treason in our nation's history is seen as "heritage not hate" (crazily, only the people that weren't property under its rule make this distinction).

Just because people in other places are racist too doesn't make it any less shitty when people in your state are racist.

I'm less concerned about his racism than about his blanket affirmation that this is intended to suppress Democratic votes, though. Talk about biting the bullet.

I'm a huge fan of Rush Limbaugh. He did some Family Guy episodes in good sporting fashion even though Seth MacFarlane is one of those "Hollywood Liberals" he hates on so much. Also, if you're looking for a great laugh outside of Family Guy, his radio show rocks!

I took his "Six Week Challenge" to "learn everything I need to learn about conservatives and see the light/swap sides/etc" and I gave it two years. But all it did was make me realize that the republican party won't exist anymore in a few years.

You can only be racist if you're white and from the south, and if someone in your political party is racist, everyone that leans that way politically is also racist.

Of course not.

But this is deflection. Someone (formerly, happily) in a fairly prominent political position, from North Carolina, is a self-admitted racist. That is the fact in this discussion.
