So anyway...

I got the banhammer on official forums, as you all know, for pointing out the obvious. So I sent the nice folks/computer program(s) at Blizzard an e-mail telling them to eat a bag of dicks (no one can eat just one), and that I was sending the following to various news organizations:

(Hope I did that right, been a long time since I had to link pics using any type of code.)

This led to several very humorous things happening:
1) Blizzard deleted all evidence of my existence from their forums. My IT-guy roommates termed this as being "memory-holed."
2) I actually did send the pic to some conservative journalist/pundits, and unbelievably, got a few responses, one or two of which were from people with national name recognition.

I politely declined any of the interest shown by the persons from the media, knowing full from my limited experience in public relations/media/advertising that even if Blizz PR guys are retards, they had complete control over how my posting on their site would reflect on me in particular and BH in general. This is the main reason they removed any and all of my postings...and probably have them saved somewhere in case they start getting phone calls from Fox News. The best I had (and I could have no doubt played up very well) was "Blizz is a big corporation and therefore bad," which is lower than low, and "censored speech is complete fail, and banning customers for complaining about your service is the biggest breech of etiquette and service EVER."

I sent Blizz a follow-up e-mail apologizing for telling them to eat a bag of dicks (no one can eat just one, did I mention that?), and being a bit more diplomatic about explaining to them that not only did I not want my ban lifted (since this one, at least, was legit), but merely wished they'd show a bit more moderation in their moderation. I have yet to receive a reply to my second e-mail. I choose to believe this is because the folks at Blizzard got the super-jumbo size Bag of Dicks, and aren't answering any e-mails until they finish eating.

Anyway, thanks to Dyslexia and Azelma in particular, and everyone else in general for the love and support you showed during my brief hiatus from the warm and wonderful company you all provide. An extra spoonful of gratitude to Mayo and the other Bucket folks for setting this up. Also, a shout out to my long, lost hetero-love/hate-mate, Rikki, things sucked, to paraphrase Dorothy, without you most of all.

Oh, fudgies, I totally forgot that I set that thing to super-secret private so that my G/F couldn't see all the young hotties that used to chat me up.

Haven't really used the damn thing for anything more than a convenient photo repository in the last year or so, though. And I am not getting sucked into Facebook if I can avoid it.

Which I probably can't, but I will as long as I possibly can.

Yay Jubber!!!! Yeah, from my understanding Blizz has effectively killed the last beacon of somewhat interesting posts on the official forums (Bleeding Hollow). Oh well, over modding and handing out banhammers for ridiculous things will do that.

What makes it really moronic is that it's totally self-defeating.

Now, the forums will be populated by no one except people who aren't part of the core community, or people who already agree with everything blues post. When the mods ban a patron, or they fall out, they'll walk away. The blues aren't going to convince someone who doesn't already agree with them that they aren't full of shit, and over time, they'll antagonize or ban more people.

The realities that the blues don't like continue to exist, except that the mods are now simply no longer party to the discourse. And so they default.

Basically, they've managed to make their own forums completely irrelevant as a medium of discussion.

There's a quote from Agricola that comes to mind but it escapes me atm.

The alternative, of course, would have been to do what worked for three years before they decided to get ban happy, and basically let things be.

People are really, incredibly stupid.

Nihilism is a copout.

Let's keep a few things in mind:

#1: I'm bad...at a lot of things. This is balanced by constantly being the coolest person in the room and my ability to pick up women way out of my league (which no longer serves any purpose, because I don't date...because my g/f doesn't let me).
#2: The computer I'm using is a loaner. Mine explodified, and the guys lent me on of the server boxes to use until they figure out what needs to be replaced on mine. We still haven't gotten around to that because I keep distracting them from fixing my crap with little things like inviting girls over and coming home with gallons of beer and liquor.
#3: I use IE for stuff you absolutely have to IE to access, like some shockwave content I like to mess with on patch days.
#4: Firefox is the default browser, and I haven't changed it because this isn't my own personal machine and I don't want to change a bunch of settings since it's not mine.
#5: Chrome owns, despite Google being run by a couple of smelly hippies.

So that should explain that, or if it doesn't, at least raise enough questions to divert everyone's attention away from the issue.
