Also, most MMOs are WoW clones, whether they pretend to be or not. The only MMO that deserves special recognition (EvE doesn't count, it's barely a game) is City of Heroes/Villains, because it's genuinely not WoW and is tons of fun.

In truth, all MMOs are actually D&D clones, with a GUI.

For that matter, imo, WoW is an Everquest clone...they just made it much, much more successful.

There's a troll on Tyranny that is probably Correct or his downy baby from a surrogate mother that always goes "Isn't it so amazing that WoW got it done so right the first time? The first MMO ever and it's still the king!"

Ironically, AoC global talks about WoW more than trade chat.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

The only game I've played firsthand was Age of Conan, and the others I've watched streams of as well as seen real life friends play.

WoW always retains my interest. I was literally into AoC for about a good week, before the linear gameplay, the graphics, and the overall barebones development of the game was enough to bore me. The problem with this is that while I didn't play WoW right at launch (or beta), I know that it had problems, but people seemed to be patient enough to stick with it so as to wait for the development into the kind of game it is today. People don't seem to have that kind of patience anymore, so they stop playing/get bored, and the company loses money and stops developing. Compared to all the other games I have seen or played, nothing comes close to touching the advancement WoW has seen, nor is there another game that can retain my interest.

Sure, I login to wow sometimes and just idle for hours because I don't want to do one of the million things there are to do... it gets, I don't know, "grindey" and I want to gouge my eyes out. But there definitely isn't another game in my experience that comes close to what you can do in WoW. Due to this, I've usually said that if I ever end up quitting WoW, it'll probably be the last MMO I play.

Playing WoW again in 2018, kill me, thanks

How many suicides/murders would be the result of such actions?

Well Aestu would definitely go on a rampage and then commit Seppuku...not sure about how many more would be so drastically affected.

Can this be confirmed? Can this happen now plz?

I plan on trying it out 3 or 4 months after release when all the Jedi and Sith fan boys die down and other classes can maybe get some face time

If WoW disappeared tomorrow...or ever...I would...

...go do something else.

Probably I would spend more time reading and writing. I'd probably argue about political issues instead of WoW-related issues. Maybe start a business. Yes, it's a lot of potentially productive energy down the drain. My parents actually feel WoW is a good thing for me because they believe it prevents me from becoming a threat to world peace. No, really.

I haven't played other MMOs. All I ever hear is that the grass isn't greener, and WoW's greatest merit is its competitors' faults.

Devs for other games could most effectively defeat WoW - overcoming WoW's economic advantage - by going with retro tech. What if they made the whole MMO with a Final Fantasy Tactics-like level of graphics and environment?

I do almost nothing in WoW these days.

Like... a couple of heroics per day, some gem xmutes, a little AHing here and there.

Not sure why i'm paying to do this each month but whatever.

I've started to get into PVP a lot lately with Mayo. If the Triumph PVP gear didn't look so fuck awful I might even invest in some resilience.

If they did that it better be done by Square, if it wasn't all you woudl end up with is another MMO that fails at launch due to the Final Fantasy Fanboys and Girls screaming their heads off because someone copied something they love and perverted it.

If that did not kill it the lack of new shiny graphics that can only be run on computers with SLI Quad Core processors and 8gigs of ram would make everyone think it is cheap and poorly designed no matter how detailed the story line and the lore that it contains is

Friends and I sat one night and decided I was gonna be a Smuggler. I couldn't care less about the rest.

I'd say it would be a sort of alternate reality universe, assuming we're talking about the original.

You have The War of the Lions going on so there is your PvP aspect. Take your side and go at it.

Then depending on your faction you'd have different characters are group/raid bosses. Zodiac bros being storyline bosses and then that dungeon would be the high end raid content.

Definitely would not look forward to fighting Orlandu or Gafgarion though.

I've convinced myself I'm gonna try SWTOR, but I'm definitely not quitting WoW for it. As little as I've been playing recently, I'm not deluded enough (or willing to lie to myself) to the point that I honestly believe anything can be a better MMO.

Going Republic. I'll be one of like 6 people on that side.

If I play, I'll also be one of the six. I want to play whatever the Republic equivalent of bounty hunter is going to be. I look for Jedi/Sith to be "nerfed," at least at launch, to encourage people to play the other classes.
