I have arrived. My protest was heeded by some and ignored by others, and mocked by some and I was insulted by others. The point is, my protest was heard. And sometimes being heard is good enough.

Silence is acceptance. Never forget that.

So as I can see, Henq changed his title, and the other forum mods kept their same titles. So it goes. It seems they've dug in their heels and have zero intention of changing it. I saw an argument for the "Tradition" of keeping the forum title and I laughed at the absurdity of that argument. Your tradition is hateful and ignorant there, fella. I saw that I was called a "bitch" and "henq's dog" and if standing up for what I believe in brings along with it insults and mockery then that is something I have to be prepared to take in stride.

I saw that the "point" of this forum was to protect speech in all kinds. Including hate speech. Freedom of speech is a basic tenet of the constitution and vital to the way we all live our day to day lives and I have no problem with it. I personally do not think that hate speech should be included in that freedom. And the Supreme Court agrees that we should not protect hate speech on a constitutional level, just as one would not protect the speech of someone yelling "Fire" in a crowded movie theater (obligatory comparison is obligatory). Words intended to create a fight or by their very utterance inflict injury are not "fair game" in civilized society. (Chaplinksy v. New Hampshire, 1942)

Thus I find myself in a conundrum: Do I continue to protest these forums?

I find my answer in the concept of intent. The intent of the forum mod title is not to incite a fight or inflict injury. That may be a latent affect, but the ignorance that lead to the decision to use the title is the kind that doesn't go away until you face the ugly side of that ignorance. And that isn't something I would wish upon anyone.

My second reasoning is that this is not civilized society. This is the internet, and a subset of the internet called the World of Warcraft. To extrapolate from this subculture is itself ignorant.

Am I at the point in my post where it's so long only Aestu is reading it? Probably.

Last reason to join the forums: you guys need me. I'm fucking hilarious. The official forums are about dead and FUCK GETTING BANNED FOR STUPID SHIT is one thing we can ALL agree on.

I always saw it is being silly, rather than attempting to be hate-filled. If you think about it, it's a derogatory term that is given to people who actually have "power," so maybe it's being ironic? IDK, that's how I saw it, maybe the intent behind it is malicious, but who knows...ask Mayo?

Welcome though, we need to get all the people we can over here as this board is far better than BH Official atm. Blizz wanted a ghost town devoid of any soul...they have gotten it!

I think it was more or less the gay-based humor of I Has A Bucket carrying over... because, if you look ^up^ these were and still are their guild's forums. They're doing us a kindness by letting us use them, as long as we don't mess with what's been here for years.

If you have any legitimate complaints or concerns, please post them in the meta discussion. If I see another rambling thread like this I'll probably lock it. Do note that your inclusion is going to be as dramatic as you make it (ex. this post, really?), considering that I think that few people on this board will care whether or not you post on it.

If you have some concerns about mod titles and hate speech on the site, why not post in the civil discussion going on in the Meta Discussion and have your say in the site?

Just remember that you've pissed on a lot of shoes here.

All I'm saying is that if you have complaints about the site and you are civil and post them on the correct board, they'll be acknowledged. Do remember that this is Bleeding Hollow's board, not Muerte's Political Correctness Happy House. If the majority of the community votes to keep hate speech and the mod titles, they stay. Same goes for if they vote against them.

Posts like these aren't constructive and with your tone I just scanned it without taking much away from it.

This is a warning. If you don't like how I mod, bring it up in meta discussion. Another post like this and I'm going to lock the thread.
