We should chat. CRNA was a road I was thinking of taking, though I might go the practitioner route. I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on the matter. What are you doing in med school?

well, i enjoy nursing a lot but i've realized that im suited more for the diagnostic side of the house. more or less, i got so tired of telling doctors they were wrong i just decided i should become one. i was thinking about FNP for a very long time but just decided to go full on MD, hence northwestern. CRNA is an AMAZING job. you make tons of money, it's easy (after you get over the initial mind-blowing anxiety) and you get to see tons of surgeries. if i were you though, i'd hold off on CRNA until you can get some years working Med/Surg floors or ICU. or at least do those while you complete CRNA school. those are the floors that make or break your nursing mentality.

if you have ANY questions about nursing, schools, CRNA or anything nursing related just let me know. it's my entire life. i love to help out aspiring nurses.

Yeah, I would have liked to just go to med school and be a doctor. I'd probably go in the direction of genetics, since I love it, but I won't really be able to afford nursing school, much less med school. It might be down the road for me, but yeah. I would much prefer neonatal or pediatrics as far as NP goes, but I'm not sure of the job market in those fields. I have a love-hate relationship with the amount of flexibility a nursing degree gives you T-T

-College Student at the local JC.

-Getting ready to transfer and move to San Diego State at the end of this year to get a degree in some sort of graphic design. I haven't decided what specifically yet.

-Working at a mom and pop owned office supply and shipping center type place.

-Random work in graphic design, mostly people I know but I've had one or two others approach me with stuff. Nothing too great though. Mostly for practice.

Graduated from Rutgers with a BA in History and a BA in French after far too long as an undergrad due to a wasted year of Engineering at PennState (I hate Pennsylvania, offense intended to residents of said state).

Got into the Rutgers law program, so there go the next three years of my life. Looking forward to entering the workforce when I'm like 27 at this rate.

Did you I HAVE NOTHING TO ADD PLEASE DISREGARD MY POST the first time? I hear lifestyle is tough.

They had a problem with one of my answers to one of the sections the first time I went. So I have to go back.

My boss, who has held TS SCI for 15 years, and then let it expire when he switched jobs, is now on his 4th trip down there.

The grilling is pretty tough if you are easily intimidated or manipulated. Just need to think about the questions.

I have (Read: HAD) a coworker that went down for his and ended up talking about a classified project in detail when the interviewer said "If you want to pass this test, you will tell me what your role in ____ _______ you have"...which happens to be a Secret SAP project we are on. Ended up telling the interviewer all about the goal, what PM it was for, etc. Needless to say...insta-f ail.

paying for nursing school is the wrong answer. look around your area for hospitals that provide scholarships for a small work contract after you graduate. only do those if you are certain you can pass the NCLEX lol. i applied for a scholarship from a hospital in the Madison WI area and found out later i was one of only 3 people that applied. needless to say, all 3 (regardless of their application im sure) got the scholarship and we got sent to university of wisconsin. there's TONS of scholarships, foundations, fat rich white people that LOVE to pay for people to become nurses. sniff around a bit before you start handing over your cash. i've also noticed a fundamental difference in doctors who went straight to med school, and doctors who got some kind of hospital/emergency medicine beforehand. the latter being much better at their jobs.
