I have decided - at last - to work on rebuilding my UI, which was never built at once, but has been a long, gradual evolution from base UI when I started playing about four years ago.

Some minor improvements:
-Borrowed Dyslexia's brilliant idea on how to make Pallypower less obtrusive
-Added custom Viewport art. The blank spot in the center is where raidframes typically are positioned, but those of you who look closely can see one of the three images I superimposed and color balanced to produce the backdrop.
-Added some superficial gloss.

I still need to fine-tune a lot of the scaling and choose better fonts and textures. Tired, will do that tomorrow zzzz

I can tell you right now you 100% do not need the bag bar or the mini interface thing showing. I will assume you have a bag mod like Combuctor or one of the other million available. The only thing you'll lose is access to posting tickets which almost any chat mods will have by typing /gm. Personal favorite is Chatter. Then you can remove the up/down arrows and the quotation box since you can wheel scroll and click the small corner box to copy paste text. Plus chat links you can click.

Actually, I don't. I use Altoholic, but I don't have a bag mod. I'll try that.

I'd like to shrink the chatbox, but what I really need is a more space-efficient font.

still haven't taken the time to take a screenie of my UI (plus i thought of a few changes i want to make to my chat setup first), but i actually have my mini bar intact because i unbound most of the keys to those things, and i still have a one-button bagbar (just shows the backback) because i extend out from that useful stuff (auras on pally, poisons on rogue), so by removing it i'd gain 1 button's worth of real estate.

you can actually do a lot of stuff with the chatbox through standard blizzard ui. i eventually installed prat for the purpose of clickable URLs, but i heavily customized my chat using nothing but the built in functionality.
