What are your thoughts?

Real Problem: Drug Cartels using the lax border security because most people don't care about gardeners/maids/construction workers/factory workers comign across the border and working 60 hour weeks at minimum wage under the table.

That's my thoughts. Buttttttttttt less of a cop out answer I suppose. We need to make it easier for people who get jobs and contribute to our economy to become full citizens and pay taxes.

And if you're going to punish anyone, punish the corporations for hiring from this workforce, and the change the laws that make it cheaper/viable for them to hire from it.

All I know is Hispanics are awesome.

I think the biggest problem with our immigration system is that we don't have a mechanism to get rid of people who were born and raised here who suck ass. I could probably make this country a better place by deporting the residents of the vast majority of trailer parks in this country.

The biggest problem I have with just letting people from Mexico stream across the border, regardless of their intentions, is that with them coming here, it causes the government to cut the number of legal immigrants coming here from other places. Why should Mexicans get an easy in for coming here just because their crappy country is next door? Shouldn't people in Asia, Africa, Europe, and elsewhere have the same chance to come here?

I have no problem with people immigrating to this country, as long as they come in the Legal way. The problem to me is that the ones who sneak in make the ones who came in with a visa first then applied for citizenship look just as bad sometimes.

Also I am going to go out an say it, IMHO Arizona did Nothing wrong. The federal government claims that it is illegal to come here illegally yet they do not enforce it after it has happened. Its only illegal to get Caught coming here illegally it seems. Arizona just made it illegal to do something illegal. Last time I checked you are supposed to carry your green card where ever you go. Why is it such a big deal not to, and if you get stopped and asked to present it, just pull it out and present it.

All American citizens are asked for some form of Identification every day. You get pulled over you need to show you license, you get on a plane you need to show your passport or license. Go to a sports event you have to show a ticket. Those are in principal all the same thing, its annoying but its the way we work.

Airzona has gotten flack for a other things that were considered wrong, Like their prison system, you know the one where the inmates live in the desert, in tents, wearing pink jumpsuits, working on chain gangs. But the sherrif down there has stated and given the evidence, that since that plan was invoked the repeat offender population has gone down almost 50%. That to me tells me that as much as people cried foul about it, it was the right thing to do. Prison is not supposed to be a fun place and they made it not a fun place. Also his prison violence is nil now. Which is also a good thing that means they can use less gaurds and SAVE money.

So when it comes to immigration I believe like I said earlier, Come if you want to, but come the right way. If you don't want to come the right way, don't get mad when we find you and send you back. You knew you were breaking the law, we are just enforcing it.

And to rahloc, i think you are missing the point as to why people dont like the bill/think it infringes on rights. What people think it will prove to be is that a cop will look at a hispanic person and say "Hey, he could be an illegal let me go ask if he is one" etc. But you can bet your ass that he wont ask a white or black person, because stereotypically they are not the illegals, but undoubtedly there are some illegal whites/blacks. It just comes down to the whole racial profile.

Yes, most illegals are mexican, especially in the southern states. But just because we know that, is it ethical to check immigration status based solely on looks/ethnicity. That in there lies the problem.

If I were in another country illegally I would be jailed because my presence in that country, without papers, would be an illegal act. I find it disgusting that we need to let people of other countries flood the USA without regard for our laws. Personally, if you're going to come to the USA I think there should be an application process where the applicant needs to prove they're not going to be a burden on our system or culture; they should learn our language, customs and accept that.

I think the way to solve the problem, as others have stated, is to make it less appealing for immigrants coming to this country illegally... but, I think we should punish both the illegals and the companies that employ them.

1) Heavily fine companies that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
2) Law enforcement should detain, process and deport any illegals found in this country through non-discriminatory acts; civil suits, traffic stops, seeking public aid, etc. If a person is caught here illegally they no longer have the chance to gain legal citizenship. Subsequent violations of this law will result in imprisonment.
3) Offer a reward for any person who can tip off the authorities about companies hiring illegals or the locations of illegal boarding. (Think of it as a bounty handled similarly to a crime or federal fraud tip-line.)
4) Make a more secure northern and southern border, similar to the borders between North and South Korea.
5) Use the National Guard to enforce border defense and give them the power to temp. detain individuals suspected of crossing the border until authorities can arrive.
6) Make English the National Language.
7) Only grant citizenship to a set number of most qualified applicants each year; most qualified would help ensure we're getting people who are educated, able to contribute, knowledgeable about our history, culture and most importantly, can speak our damn language.

Theres already an app process, but theres also refugee status.
N/S korea are at WAR. And besides, its more the north not letting people out than the south not letting them in. the south is happy to help their neighbors, its just hard for them to get there.
Wouldnt that be turnign neighbor against neighbor type of thing...? just giving an incentive for people to be nosey and wouldnt help much IMO

You already do that. Most of the points you brought up are already in effect to some degree.
