Nielsen ratings story!

I was outside.

This big burly black man was driving around the neighborhood in a crown victoria.

He saw me and parked in grannies driveway.

He turned out to be a pleasant individual. He gave me a tin of cookies and some monies.

He gave me a spiel about the nielsen ratings system and how it worked.

The thought of turning every tv in the house to the terribad shows to give them awesome ratings was very very hot.

I told the man I would indeed participate in the ratings thingy.

Two days later umpteen people show up with the man from the day before.

Reality set in and the sweetness of being able to inflict terribad sitcoms waned.

Every tv set, vcr, ect, that could be watched must be connected to a nielsen doodad. The nielsen doodads would then send the datas via a wire to another thingy that would have its own phone line.

Anything that was not being used would get a plug lock placed on it.

Any new purchase would have to be reported ect.

They also mentioned that it wouldnt be possible to unplug the "setups"
The people got upset when I told them that all was a bit much.

The killer tho was grannies kitchen tv radio combo from the late 80's. It was the size of 2 /12 loaves of sandwich bread. It's screen was 5 incher. It weighed a ton.

In order to hook the tv up they were going to have to use two doodads and they would have to run many feet of wiring. Unless it was cool with grannie to drill a hole or 5 in the counter top.

I said no thanks as did grannie and the whole troupe left.

The end.

So, I think the moral of that story is...don't ever sign up for nielsen ratings.
