I actually wasn't clear on this because the official materials are so sparse, badly written, and ambiguous.
Having looked into it:
There's an eight week qualifier divided into two four week periods, the first of which ended on the 24th. After that first four week period, the four week period for which your activity determines whether or not you get the pet or title begins.
What I am not sure of is whether the team must have been made prior to the 24th, and if so, you are able to still qualify by acquiring one. I believe so, however.
Anyway, looking for two team members, or an existing team.
