You all probably think I'm going to move my paladin to another account and keep posting. Well, I'm not.

My first thought on seeing this - and really I saw it coming, I had gone on quite a tear - was to do a letter-writing campaign. Then I thought about it more, and decided, it was time to walk away. Can't fix stupid, whether it's a pug or Blues. They want to ruin their game, post on greys and pretend that denying reality changes it, well, they've made up their mind. /shrug

The only reason I'm even playing the game is because I was picked up by Gwen Stefani when I wasn't expecting to be, and with them I'll finish this expansion - get my Val'anyr and kill heroic LK. Probably the guild will get like 2-3 late kills then stop raiding as everyone loses interest. Hopefully I'll get one of their few Invincibles. I already have a Crimson Deathcharger sitting on another server. The rest of the Shadowmourne items, I have all but lost interest in.

It was the experience of gearing out Xuria through LFD that really convinced me this game is in the shitter. So many horror stories. The whole experience was loathsome. I don't even inspect people for pugs anymore because it's futile. No quality pugs, just overgeared trash. Some gem correctly, some don't, there's no way to tell anything.

Cataclysm? It will probably be WotLK to the Nth degree. Yay bringing the culture of LFD into cross-server raiding.

My only interest in finishing my goals in this expansion is as a sort of contingency plan - if the game becomes worth playing again. Seriously, I doubt it.

So - two, maybe three months - then I am done. Forum ban? Psh.

And, it's a hot, humid summer in Mass.

EDIT: Could someone with an alt account please post on the Achievement forums:
Subject: Aestu will no longer be posting.

When Activision bought Blizzard...that was the beginning of the end.

Blizzard has found where the money is. Casuals. Micro-transactions. Unfortunately, most casuals are also baddies.

Therefore...

R.I.P. WoW.

I have been debating if I want to play Cata at all...pretty much the idea of having a furry is the only thing keeping me slightly interested.

As for the forums....yeah, I've haven't seen such Big Brother, community-killing, free-speech destroying tactics since I read 1984.

Welcome to the long list of people banned for...IDK...saying interesting things.

All I can do is shake my head.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

No. You're wrong.

Casuals ARE the the future. Casuals are the best MMO gamers. In 20 years, everyone on this forum will be a casual raider. Someday, casuals raiders will be tens, if not HUNDREDS, of millions of MMO players.

If it were up to us, pretty sure, we'd all be casual raiding 2-5 hours a week right now. Good, quality content.

But Blizzard doesn't understand casualization.

The evolutionary path that WotLK represents is a dead end.

How are casuals the future? More specifically, what should blizzard understand about casualization. How can they possibly make the game more casual friendly without making it possible for terribads to get into pugs and be awful (even though they have welfare gear)?

I mean, I'm casual, I spend only 5 or so hours every week raiding. I don't consider myself to be a bad player in that I can put out respectable DPS and can more than do my part when healing, and I don't die in stupid shit or wipe raids.

However, I feel as though I'm an exception, not the rule when it comes to people who don't play often. The game blizzard is creating is sort of a double-edged sword.

Yes, someone like me, a decent player, can get good gear and see end game content without having to spend hours farming etc.

However, this also means that someone who is terrible, has no situational awareness, and fucks up even the most basic of game mechanics (idk...STAND UNDER SPORES or MOVE OUT OF THE GOO) can also obtain gear with relative ease. I've seen Mages with fantastic gear put out DPS that is simply abysmal. I've seen a hunter who just hit level 80 (wearing greens and blues) out DPS deathknights who are epic'd. I've seen hunters who somehow have ICC gear not know what the fuck a misdirect is. I've seen paladins who refuse to buy reagents because they are "expensive." I've seen shadowpriests cast mind sear on a boss (no adds). These things aren't isolated incidents, these are becoming commonplace in this game.
----------------------------------------------------
So, I ask you again Aestu, HOW?

Since Blizzard decided to dance with the devil and the almighty dollar, their greed has known no end. Their game has been raped, and deformed because of it. Yet still they milk it, still they suckle upon the teet of almighty Activision and her shareholders. Woe to you, Blizzard.

If you told me about LFD and cataclysm loot homogenization at the end of TBC, I'd literally laugh you off of the board.

That's because people like us are relics. I've yet to meet anyone that started playing during WotLK that I'd consider to be a "good player" by any standard. People who have been playing for years are either going ultra-casual or have stopped playing completely only to be replaced by LFD mouthbreathers.

There used to be neck-to-neck competition on this server raidwise. Ever since 3.0, the raiding cores of these guilds have dwindled and become ever more concentrated into one guild until you get a guild like Tempest full of all classic/tbc players that shoot beyond other wrath-created guilds by miles.

Yeah, but I realized while I was playing on my DK, we just did all of our grinding earlier and now we've gone casual.

Personally, I'm not going to buy SC2. I have a horrible feeling that much like WoW, SC2 is going to get dumbed down for all of the miserable faggots out there.

Dear CM Team:

I, Aestu, account name: NUCLEOKINESIS, ask my forum ban be rescinded.

I have earned numerous kudos from fellow posters for my helpful advice on many subjects connected to pugging and achievements and mount farming. I have used the forums to organize pug raids and achievement runs and other activities beneficial to the playerbase. I have engaged in commerce fair and beneficial to many parties.

My forum signature was, “Yes, I have the Ashes of Al’ar. No, I did not ninja them.” During last April Fools, this was changed by capricious CMs to read, “Yes, I have the Ashes of Al’ar. Yes, I did ninja them.” Clearly, I was worth the trouble in the first place – that I did enough for the community. And it was true. I did not ninja them. I take pride in my integrity in my dealings in the game.

Blizzard, too, has benefitted from what I have to say. The design decision that 25 mans in Cataclysm should drop more loot per raider was my suggestion, as was the reworking of paladin leveling. The Black War Bear was originated by a suggestion I made about three years ago regarding making city raiding viable and offering mounts as a reward. I have used the forums to submit detailed information about bugs and to debunk false information.

If at times – I have engaged in excesses – this was always for love of the game. Certainly, I have dedicated much time, money, and effort to it, to the benefit of Blizzard and the community.

I have used the forums to host events and share information, and wish to continue to do so.

I shall keep my excesses to a minimum in the future.

Aestu-BH, US

Was a pretty ridiculous way to get banned.

I wonder how many other servers have off-site forums like we do.

Aestu, you're far to cheeky/intelligent for Blizzard to handle. They only want fanboys and yes-men on the forums. No matter what your contribution to the game, the fact that you are opinionated, and have public sway (however much or little it may be) means that they must silence you. The fact that they've silenced you for...well nothing really..... leads me to be positive that this is true.

I think these complaints about how everyone is terrible now are completely myopic about the past. Standards are much higher now - how often do you see people getting ragged on for incredibly minor deficiencies in gemming ("omg you could have 4 more sp if you gemmed correctly, you're terrible"). My recollection of level 60 is that the average player was much much worse than they are today, and things we take for granted from average players now like min-maxing specs and gear, effective pulling in dungeons, etc. would have been a mark of an exceptional player back then. Perhaps the average raider looks worse now because so many more people are raiding, but I really think average skill has been steadily increasing.

I'll be the first to say I was rabidly terrible in vanilla.

I've been promoted to average now.
