Nope, client's been available free to download for a while now.

Not to be that guy, but both LotRO and DDO (played the free trials because I'm that kind of guy) are pretty sub-par WoW clones that will leave you annoyed you wasted the time to install.

If destruction exists, we must destroy everything.

Totally disagree. LotRO is definitely in the vein of EQ/WoW (everyone forgets that WoW is a somewhat flagrant copy of EQ's gameplay style) - but it's questing really sets it apart, as does the world; and if you like Tolkien's lore, it's really worth it.

DDO was terrible at first, but now it's pretty awesome. The combat is quite enjoyable, as are the dungeons. Especially as a rogue - stealth, acrobatics, etc, they all count towards the experience. Both are well worth trying.

LotRO feels really canned and they kind of tried too hard to put in named characters so people would recognize things they'd seen in the movies (and no, I'm not a movie-hater, I never read the books because I couldn't get past the first 10 pages, fuck you description of a round door), which stretches the suspension of disbelief and turns it into a clown show.

DDO falls flat in my eyes because I play D&D and because Baldur's Gate and NWN were such better PC derivations of the tabletop game than DDO could ever hope to be.

If destruction exists, we must destroy everything.
