You know what I think I would look fabulous in?

You.

Not to be pissing h8erade all over this but......

....that sounded really, really, flaming-ass gay.

(I mean that as a funny burn, not an insult, because I missed the shoes but I'm sure they are like Elton John hilarious.)

This thread is now about shoes and Broadway musicals.

Just don't tell me you own Rent on DvD and serve spinach-dip in bread bowls.

Survey says? *WRONG* She clearly had talent originally, and clearly hasn't just "lost it" or whatever you claim. She was in the NYU school of music (which if you didn't know...you have to be amazing to get accepted) and won various awards for her piano playing/song composition abilities. She still writes most of her own music. In terms of her dress, it's all her. She decides to wear those crazy things. Ever since she started performing in little hole-in-the-wall clubs she has had the same provocative/eccentric style. And as for her dance, perhaps you didn't know this, but almost all musicians that dance have someone else telling them how to dance....they are called choreographers >.>

It's hard not to feel special when being addressed by Akiina

I see your point, but even if she "sold out" it doesn't mean she lost her talent.

I hate the term "sell out" anyway...most people use it just to rip an artist/band that has become popular:

"Oh yeah dude, that band sucks now...they totally sold out" Why because more people listen to their music? I don't get it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selling_ou ... f_the_term

An artist may also be accused of selling out after changes in artistic direction. This conclusion is often due to the perception that the reason for the artist changing artistic style or direction was simply potential material gain. This ignores other causes of artistic development, which may lead an artist in new directions from those that attracted their original fans. Artists' improvements in musical skill or change in taste may also account for the change.

Other times, artists resent the term on the grounds that the perceived desire for material gain is simply a result of the band seeking to expand its message. For example, when questioned about signing to a major label, Rage Against the Machine answered "We're not interested in preaching to just the converted. It's great to play abandoned squats run by anarchists, but it's also great to be able to reach people with a revolutionary message, people from Granada Hills to Stuttgart".[9]

Other bands (including those without politically-oriented messages) may also reject the term, on the basis that not going mainstream or signing to a bigger label—to avoid "selling out"—prevents a band from addressing a wider audiences, regardless of whether or not there is any real artistic change, and arbitrarily hampers the artists' course of mainstream success, with the assumption that mainstream success must be against the artists' intentions. When confronted with the accusation of selling out in 2001, Mike Dirnt of Green Day said:

Somehow, I doubt she's got the inventiveness of Gabriel-era Genesis, or of Mike Oldfield, or of Mikael Akerfeldt.

By pop standards she may as well be a certified genius.
