I imagine it's the same here as elsewhere. Urban areas are less religious (if you can ignore the Italians) because people are smart and rich.

I actually found state level numbers today while looking for something else: http://pewforum.org/How-Religious-Is-Your-State-.aspx

Minnesota is less religious than the national average, and as Tuhl says there's probably an urban-rural divide on top of that.

I hate all seasons equally.

And i do enjoy my ability to not give a shit about religion one way or the other. I remember at school we had bible studies, i don't recall ever thinking the shit we were learning was real or truthful, but in hindsight it was definitely harmless fun at worst. This one time we had a sleep over for a mate's birthday and the next day we went to SUNDAY SCHOOL. I was scared to go because i was just scared of going to weird places. But it was fun, and i did a crossword. One of the questions asked what one of the wise brosephs brought Jeebus. I didn't know the answer so i asked my mate who told me. I misheard him, and wrote Frankenstein. The churchy lady didn't notice i wrote the wrong thing so i got my prize for completeting the crossword anyway.

And i always laughed at the kids who had to get pulled out of bible class cause their parents didn't want them in it. At the time i think we were told their parents wanted to teach them bible shit themselves, but now that i'm SMRT i know that the parents were just dirty atheists. My parents on the other hand weren't religious but recognised the harmlessness as being nothing worth having your kid ostracised in class for.

That shit's child abuse yo.

I imagine things are different today though compared to being raised in the 80s and early 90s. People are such PC little fascist cunts in 2010 that some would probably sue schools for inflicting bible studies upon their kids.

Fuck i hate people.

Good to see that kid is the same. Because at least in the world i want to live in, there's so much shit which just doesn't matter. I want to get up, go to work (well i'd rather stay home) and just do my thing. That kid felt the same way. Bless his soul, and if i was a religious man i'd pray he has a good life.

Currently a lot of schools teach evolution and not creationism or intelligent design. Do you have a problem with them teaching the theory of evolution without giving equal time to the other theories?

Evolution is the primarily agreed upon theory. This is the major difference. Most people agree that despite religious texts saying otherwise, or through the usage of metaphors and stories in religious texts, regardless evolution is the primarily agreed upon theory. When you start teaching the 'my-god-can-beat-up-ur-god-lolol' in classes, thats a problem.

So to answer your question: I do not have a problem with "theories" that have generally been accepted in the scientific community and the public at large being taught in schools.

This has always been a problem for me because, like you don't want to get into a debate about which god is better, you're automatically assuming Evolution is the most widely accepted theory and that, somehow, it is more credible than Creationism/God. Evolution is a funny thing because it talks about how a species can adapt and overcome... but it never gets to the root of creation. This still leaves an opening for God to have created life. The other life-creating theories are exogenesis and the whole Primordial Ooze idea; all three haven't been proven meaning all three theories (and any others) should get equal time in my eyes.

Wouldn't it be funny if Evolution was part of God's design...?

Since the existence of God cannot be proven nor disproven, this point really fails to convince me. I can sort of see what you are saying, but religion is not science. Religion is pure speculation/faith.
