A melee weapon with haste and crit + sp enchant + elw embue will be better than any equal level shield. A offhand caster weapon would be ridiculous, but I'm pretty sure the devs have said they don't want caster shaman to be dual-wielding.

Ja, was my point. I see where Rikki's going with that, though. I did a run one night on my shammy where the healer dropped. It was a decently geared group (except for my shammy), so I stayed in ENH and did double-earthliving, and just zapped the tank with healing wave every time I had enough maelstrom charges for an insta-cast. We finished the dungeon that way, and I didn't have to back off my DPS-ing to do straight heals very often.

Later when I checked, I found that I had more healing spellpower in that configuration than I did in my equivalently bad healing set.
