So there's one of those evangelical churches about 20 minutes or so away from where I live that built this gigantic statue of jesus that locals have named "Butter Jesus". I'm pretty sure they show it in Religulous and I know that they've shown it on Rob & Big. Here's a picture of it.


So right now its thunderstorming outside and apparently, this piece of shit got hit by lightning and is now ON FIRE.

Now I know who's really calling the shots.

The binding of the world unravels in grim death, Midgard slowly crumbles. Mighty Thor recovers to his feet, in spite of the grievous wounds which now bled black with venom. Not until his fifth step did the severity of his wound begin to show. By the ninth, vile poison crippled his motor, darkened his vision, and dulled his brain. Here he collapsed and bled out, and with his fate fulfilled, paid his cosmic debt to Skuld of the Writing Women.

My initiation into the worship of the Christian God was the work of Mennonites. They frowned on such ostentatious displays, and would have used the resources that went into such a pointless architecture to actually perform the works expected of a good Christian, such as caring for the sick and poor and spreading to message of Christ. I tend to agree with this view, and believe that the people/groups that construct these ridiculous monuments do so more out of self-aggrandizement than they do as a tribute to the Lord.
