Provided its extremely limited usage, like if a goal is scored and they want to review it, or perhaps a coaches challenge format, then i can agree. Anything more and it will become a blight on the game. Not as big a blight as diving is, which really should be a suspendable offense. They just need to man up, write a new rule, and enforce it. Diving is the only thing stopping me from actually enjoying Football completely.

I want to murder players who dive.

A suggestion I saw somewhere was to review video after the game and issue a red card for anyone who dived. That way the game wouldn't be slowed down, but it would discourage anyone from trying to get away with something.

a facebook quote from a friend of a friend who are both national referees:

I'm pretty sure I know what he called and I can see why he did. Slovenia's # 7 was man-handled and was totally unable to defend. Was this different than any of the nonsense above? No. Should he have waited? Yes. Should he have let the goal stand? Yes. Did he have a good day at the office? Fuck no. Is he on a bus back to Mali right now? God, I hope so. Did Sepp take his white badge back before he got back to the changing room?

A yellow card after the game wouldn't do anything though. If you have to miss the next game due to a red card, that's a pretty good incentive to avoid looking like you took a dive.

Sure it would, if you get 2 yellows (not in the same game) you stay in the current game but are suspended for the next game

That assumes they get another yellow though. Anyways, since adding video review would involve changing the rules, there is no reason why diving would necessarily stay a yellow card. The suggestion I saw was to give out red cards for dives.

Keep this about soccer or I will show my obvious European bias and moderate you.
