wtf i actually like naruto. it can be silly and serious. the characters are pretty one-dimensional i suppose. i dont know, it's just plain fun to watch. maybe it's because it doesn't take itself too serious like most anime.

naruto gets pretty serious. it only gets bashed on because its so damn popular and is able to reach out to children too. that's the trend with many things; if it's popular, make fun of it.

You said you say Full Metal Alchemist... but have you seen Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood? The series is somewhat parallel to the original, but the stories diverge around episode 13 of FMA:B. FMA:B follows the Manga and is a much darker, sinister story. The manga is finished and the show has three episodes left before it's complete in Japan.

Yea. Brotherhood is many times better than the original series in my opinion. Another difference (which I like) is the first thirteen episodes are condensed so you don't have to see all the filler again; Leore is one episode, the boys trapped on the island is half an episode, there is no state alchemist exam, no episodes on Youswell, etc.
