I used to make really elaborate castles that had hinges on one side so you could open them up and play like they were doll houses. I also had a weird habit of making a giant cube that had a 3D maze of tunnels on the inside - shove a marble in one hole and blindly navigate to the other.

If I had a flat piece that was a 2x10 or something... and if I needed a 2x4... I wouldn't think twice about cutting it down in size... so some of my legos look jacked up. :D

Anyone still have their collection?

Mine are all in some fairly dusty boxes. I've been debating giving them a good rinse and going to nostalgia-town instead of playing games I've already beaten.

all my spacial relations talents i owe to growing up with legos as a primary toy. don't know if legos are as open ended nowadays. i keep seeing movie themed lego sets with unique parts that don't really belong anywhere else, and i always felt that took away from it a bit.

i built ships, submarines and bipedal mechs since those were the days of my mechwarrior 2 fetish. spend an entire day building up a masterpiece only to destroy it the same night, amazing outlet for creativity. think i even had favorite lego dudes, characters, storylines and setups that i kept to. family was always poor as shit, but i couldn't help but think that the kids who didn't have legos were retarded, or something was really wrong with them.

tried to upgrade to those other serious face construction sets, with metal pieces and bolts/electric parts, but it was never the same.

legos also inflict grievous wounds for a children's toy, gashing feet, ripping fingers and handing out full darwin awards to oral fixation kids.

Fast as easy, young child able do.

I always made castles, or spaceships, or random things that looked like a spaceship/atv mix

My friend and I would spend most of the day building a town with walls and fortresses and a bunch of airplanes and boats and then in the afternoon have a war where everything got blown to bits, and then repeat everything the next day. I think my mom has all my legos in storage, waiting for grandkids.

If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

you can all thank the superior nation of Denmark for your Legos
