i read it, i understand what you're saying, i think it's certainly a possible outcome though i don't much believe in predicting the future with such certainty, as those predictions are invariably based on assumed constants that will not actually remain constant.

I'm glad old posts aren't being switched. I don't really care if people that I play WoW with know my name, people can find it out now without me telling them if they cared enough to do some digging.

I do have a problem with being forced to have it out in the open for everyone, especially since there's little to no benefit (for players) to use full names. The stuff you post is going to be indexed on Google for years. It's not uncommon for employers to search a potential candidates name, great news for you! Gamers are so highly thought of to the general population, and a listing to a bunch of immature stuff you posted is just icing on the cake.

This will backfire when people the people that want to troll just create a new battle.net account for SC2 (or Cataclysm) putting in fake names. Trolls be trollin'

my thoughts, too. if they don't begin to alter this by the time sc2 is out, there will be many new accounts created with fake info, and with good reason. the people who do play along with the system they're announcing now, get rewarded with vulnerability to getting dox'd every time they say or do anything.

we'll have many interesting and diverse opinions being voiced under a system where offending the wrong person can have you super sleuthed in 15 seconds. it's not that snipers or psychos come and kill you because you said hydras suck, but it's extra bullshit that will never be worth it over a game to people who'd rather not mix real life with dargonslay.

at which point did blizzard become so jaded. was it the activision merger? the financial success and media recognition?

can you still not even play SC2 single player campaigns offline? is all of this specifically designed to be a nonsensical retard carnival?
