My hobby before WoW was billiards. I played in two leagues around town at local bars and pool halls. I spent an average of 20$ a night on myself for food and beer because they were conveniently timed around the time most people would be eating dinner. League dues were not much, maybe 50$ a season with seasons lasting 3 months or so with tournaments at the end. My wife prefered to go but leave early becasue all of the smoke bothered her so she would eat and watch for a while and then head home to the tune of about ten bucks or so.
One season = 1200+ dollars in food, beer, and fees.
Since we did not have kids yet this was fun money that we would have spent somewhere. In the four or so years I have played WoW I have spent about the same as I did in three months playing pool. Oh, not to mention the pool stick that is worth about 300$ used that I bought from a guy I used to work with for 100$. But I still have it so we could call it an investment, lol.
The moral of the story is tha tno matter how much you think WoW cost, it is actually a cheap hobby to have.
9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.
