I know a bunch of you hate sports, but it's actually a big deal for more reasons than just basketball.

Cleveland, a city struggling economically, stands to lose a ton of money if James leaves. An economist projected that their loss could be upwards of 200 million if James is no longer a presence in downtown (loss of restaurant business, parking, advertising, etc. etc.)

So, thoughts on this? Where's LeBron going?

I feel like if he wants to win titles he should go to Chicago.

This ridiculous self-promotion is a joke. Not that I give too shits where he ends up, but I predict he stays in Cleveland.

See people are saying this, and he may go...if he does though, I don't see it working out for him.

1.) With LeBron, Wade, and Bosh's contracts, Miami will have literally no money left over to get other players. That means they'll have a bunch of minimal salary guys. To have a championship team, you need those "role players" like the Derek Fisher's of the world...without them, you will be crushed. Not to mention, with no depth, Wade, Bron, and Bosh are bound to get tired and need to sit on the bench for rest....if you have a bunch of Joe Nobody's it's gonna come back to bite them in the arse.

2.) Sharing the rock with DWade. I just don't see Bron sharing the spotlight and the basketball with Wade. There can be only one Alpha dog...not 2.

1) Wade/Bosh have both mentioned taking less money to make it work. Wade/Bosh/Lebron all dropping from 16.6 mil as stated on espn to 13-14mil would give them enough to sign 1-2 mid level, and then fill with minimum. It's quite possible and a simple trading of Beasley also opens the cap for all 3 of them. Wade/Lebron can drop their salary more also since they make a lot more off the court from endorsements. You can go over the salary cap with minimum salaried players. It is not a hard cap

2)
Andy Boehim, 2008 US gold medal asst coach wrote:
Boeheim, who was an assistant coach on the 2008 gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic basketball team that included James, Wade and Bosh, said he has no doubts the three superstars can co-exist on the same NBA team.

"All three can play together, they played together for us and they were great," Boeheim told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

"If he goes to Miami it clearly gives him the best chance to win. They could easily play together. They are all good friends and they all like each other. Bosh can play off each of them. He doesn't need to be the main guy. You can alternate down the court -- one time LeBron takes it, Dwyane takes it the next time. I don't think it's even an issue," Boeheim said. "We had all of those guys and Kobe [Bryant] on the court at the same time and we did all right. Anybody who says [they can't play together] doesn't know what they're talking about."

They are also all very good friends.

Thank you for making me LOL in an otherwise pointless thread. I love sports but I have basically stopped following teams (except the Mets) because I prefer to watch the games for the entertainment and not root for one team or another. I really dont care where James goes, its all show for him to make even more money than I will ever see. He thinks he is MJ but he has no ring and will not as long as he does not have the team around him. The Bosh/Wade combo would make sense becasue of the superstar factor, but would cripple the teams ability to get good bench players, even if the big money guys a few dollars less so they can play with the biggest drawing card in the game. Cleveland can offer him the most money because of the whole salary cap and how resigning players affects it. BTW, you need a masters in quantum physics to understand the NBA salary cap, and if he does not stay in Cleveland he will prove once and for all that he never had any loyalty to the city he claimed to love.

10. Let's say LeBron signs with Miami. Can you even make the Finals with LeBron, Bosh, Wade and nine minimum-salary guys? Because that might be next year's team … and if that's what happens, the answer is "no effing way." You don't win titles just because of your top three. That belittles the meaning of guys like Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Brian Shaw … you could go on for hours naming role players who swung a title. The 2008 Celts lucked out by getting James Posey, Eddie House and P.J. Brown for practically nothing; Miami wouldn't have that luxury this summer, not with so many role players jockeying for contracts one year before the possible lockout. Nobody is taking less money to showcase themselves for a summer that might not happen. Even if Miami could spin Michael Beasley for a fourth guy (say, Trevor Ariza), that's still not enough. They'd need one more rebounder, point guard, a 3-point shooter and a center. Good luck.

11. Another problem: You realize how many minutes these guys would log on a three-man team? About 42-44 minutes for 100 games … and if anyone missed an extended stretch of games, then that would put even more pressure on the other two. Crazy. No way they win more than 50, especially with teams gunning for them every night. We've also never seen two perimeter superstar alpha dogs coexist for an NBA title -- not even when Jerry West and Elgin Baylor teamed up with Wilt Chamberlain against the aging Celtics in 1969. LeBron would have to accept becoming Mega-Pippen to Wade's Jordan. (Yeah, right.) Even during the final quarter of the 2008 gold-medal game, when everyone on the American team was staring at each other wondering who was going to step up against a red-hot Spain team, there were a few minutes of tentative, "I don't want to step on anyone's toes here" basketball before Kobe said, "Screw it, get out of my way" and took over the key portion of the game.

Well, at some point, Wade and LeBron will have one of those 2008 Spain moments … but what happens if both guys say, "Screw it, get out of my way"? You need to have a special type of mentality to want that moment; that's why Scottie Pippen melted down in that 1994 Bulls-Knicks playoff game, because Phil Jackson had spent that entire year building him up and making him think, "We can win without Jordan, you're just as good, we can DO THIS," then designed the biggest play of the season for someone else. It was a slap in the face. Pippen reacted terribly, but still, don't you want him to be pissed there? Isn't that what being an alpha dog is all about? Don't you need a special level of swagger and confidence to carry that load every night? And once you reach that level, doesn't it become impossible to share the spotlight with someone else?

I'm not saying Bron won't go to Miami...but if he thinks he has a better shot at winning championships there, I think he's sorely mistaken.

true azelma. I'll be honest, my miami guess is my 3rd guess for where he's going and i'm kinda hoping he does go there. Because any other spot will cause him to get even more media attention.

New York - OMG He's starting a new team there with Amare and trying to create a new legacy for himself, inc weeks of discussion about can he do it.

Chicago - OMG He's trying to replicate Jordan's legacy. Can they do it with their young roster?

Cleveland - OMG How are they going to improve the team? Who is left to get with Wade/Bosh gone?

Miami - OMG How are all 3 of them going to sync together? How are they going to get anyone else?

Miami's stops becoming a story the earliest because it isn't watching a legacy like in New York/Chicago, and there isn't so much drama with his history in Cleveland.

Theres a one hour special covering his decision. IMO if he leaves, his ego will leave so much space that they could further develop their downtown financial core.
