ugh I don't know why, not being able to see the other person's reactions or gestures and vice-versa makes me feel so socially awkward. I've had phone interviews too, and those are the worst. I would feel more comfortable showing up to the interview with my dick hanging out than having a long phone interview.

The only time I like having a conversation on the phone for more than a few minutes is when I'm talking with a good friend or someone I'm really comfortable with and we laugh about shit from the last night or something and even those are never really more than 15 minutes. The second worst is when a girl uses you as an emotional cum dumpster and doesn't let you get a word in for 10-20 minute spans at a time. Luckily that doesn't happen to me often because I don't talk to girls.

Maybe I'm just in to dudes.

But yeah, I'm not really into the phone talking thing very much. I was on the phone with the girl I'm with now for around 6 hours before we started dated. I don't think our phone convo's last more than three minutes now. Texting is fine for me.

I hate the phone with a passion, im good with sub 1 mins of basicaly "yo what up, you free man? coo lets do shit."

Sucks cause my gf wants me to call almost everyday, and the last time i couldnt get off for almost an hour and a half. I just find it really annoying and id prefer to IM or email if i couldnt actually be there.

This made me lol because I think every man learns this at a young age. I remember when I was ~14 I was pretty good friends with this girl, we got in to this fight about I don't know what, she called me and was venting for a long ass time about or friendship and if we were still friends. I was like wtf is this shit, just said "yeah" "ok" "no" "no I don't hate you" "no I'm not mad" at (I think) appropriate times while I was putting all my concentration towards watching Malcolm in the Middle or something. Shortly after that I don't think I ever spoke to her again.



I don't really like texting either, I'd much rather talk to a person face-to-face. Having the ability to respond (or ignore) at your convenience is nice, but I hate how it gives (both parties) time to think about some response about everything without just saying something naturally. You'd think that would be good for arguments and whatnot, but no, no argument ever ends good over text/email/phone.



Sometimes a man must set boundaries. I can grin and bear a long phone conversation every now and then, but every night? ahh helll na.

cant say im too into phones. girlfriend was away visiting her parents and called home while i was still in bed. she started laying all this stuff on me about her younger sister not wanting her to borrow any of her clothes because my girlfriend smokes, and some weird psychoanalysis of that statement from a naturally neurotic person's P.O.V. i'm barely awake and not saying much and i start getting the "do you not even want to talk to me or something!?" stuff so i just hang up the phone and try to go back to sleep. horrible repercussions from that :].

Well its first thing in the morning now. Shes in china, and the only time that works is after i get up. Crawl out of bed, piss and drink then pick up the phone.

Still, better than not talking at all for a month till shes back. Annoyin that she wanted me to call her every morning also before she left and freaked when i didnt for 2 days.

Oh, I agree. I would rather talk face to face above all else but when that's not possible texting/iming works wonders. I'm a textaholic.

phone conversations last ~1 minute or less w/ most people, unless i feel like talking then from there 15 max.

Dear girls of the internet, either you would all make perfect significant others or you're liars and just got done venting to some poor guy on the phone for the past hour. I am a pessimist, personally.

I like texting because fuck awkward silences and fuck having to be committed to a conversation. While texting I can do literally whatever the fuck I want and continue the convo at my leisure.

Meh... I would probably only do video chat if it was a temporary long distance thing. It's like lose-lose, awkwardness of a phone and disadvantage of them being able to see you so you can't just not give a fuck.
