No, he sat down with all that stuff, chomping on a ham sandwich, and displaced me. I took this all in, that formed in my mind, I hesitated, then said it, and then he reacted by stopping eating and clamping the container shut.

Then why not have a chat with the persian girl? books and covers, maybe youll find something else or shell be the "one" or whatnot. Thats what i meant by not letting people in, if someone wants to talk to you, or go out or do something, why not if you're so bumbed out with what you're normally doing? Have fun, kick back and let it all go.

You always have a rebuttal, regardless of your method you shouldn't judge others as you do. You are no better than other just as others are no better than you. Regardless of wit, self worth or actions.

You may save 10 lives yes that makes you a hero but that doesn't make your life any more valuable or worthy than that of a bum you see countless times on your way to work talking to himself.

In the grand scheme of things you are 1 life, and he is 1 life. How you choose to live it can make you a good person doesn't change the fact that each person is equal to another.

My point is, regardless of how many different ways you want to beat around the bush, you were repulsed by the look of him the way he sat down and accidentally brushed the almighty Aestu. How could this man, this fat man do that. And then you proceeded to insult him in a way you figured might hurt most.

You didn't help him, no matter how you want to spin it.

The problem is, as is evident in his posts when presented with these opportunities, he is too caught up in what he isn't doing or could be doing or should be doing. Or what he 'values' is different than what we value or what most would call a normal person would desire. He doesn't crave the social interaction that most do.

He instead runs from it for one reason or another that he decides isn't worth it. I wish he would do it just to see life on the other side of the fence. But as much as we ask him to see our side of the fence how many of us have tried his side?

I am no exception, I am not willing to try his side, it sounds lonely and miserable so I'll pass on that. :)

Just something to think about, I think someone once said "Don't ask of others, what you are not willing to do yourself."

Yes I know that means I am a hypocrite, I am okay with that I can live with myself :D

It wasn't intended as a rhetorical rebuttal, just a clarification of events. A life is a life but what gives it value is what one does with it. Again, I don't believe anyone really believes all lives have the same worth. You can't claim you or anyone else really treats a bum like a guy with a home and job. You can't claim you wouldn't defer to your brother over some random person. You can't claim you take everything that anyone says or does at face value regardless of reputation or background. Again, that's unreal.

This is a major difference in my values from most people, and ironically, it's part of how I was raised. I believe that it is more just to make an effort to judge others rationally than to not judge at all. Part of what my parents did was make me a very critical person. When I was little and I asked a question about something, they would say, "Go look it up." "Can't you just tell me?" "No, go to the bookshelf and look it up." "Forget it." "Do you want to stay stupid?"

"Ethan, never forget - if you have lost everything, if your family, your home, your money, your country, is all gone, what do you still have? You have your mind. So you must develop that. Because it is all you really have."

That is not in my nature. I might as well try to fly by flapping my arms.

I just feel kind of bad for him now, i always thought of him as some jerk who i dealt with somewhat civilly from time to time, but see he is one to, not exactly pity, but someone who needs help, and a little more than pity. He needs warmth. By hsi jerkish behaviours, hes seeking to seperate himself from others in a pointless bid to prove to himself to be superior, apart from normal petty relationships and interactions.

He wants to be singled out, and the only way he finds he can be singled out is by singling himself out through mean, petty hurtful actions towards others. In a crowd of people, its always the one who throws the molotov cocktail who gets the most stares.

^ Change your nature then, it can be done. it takes great willpower and presence of mind, but through time an conscious action you can do it. Prove you are superior, do something few attempt, and even less do, change your nature to make yourself a happier person.

"The One" is really just the person you've met for the time that you click with the most. There's always more "the one's" out there..

this seems very healthy for you Aestu.

Who ever gave you that advice seriously doubted you. Sure, they may suggest you grow your mind but they suggest you cast aside most other aspects of life to favor the development of one - it's like they doubt you can chew gum and walk at the same time. Mind you, just about everyone here can develop on all fronts; relationships, mental, career, etc. If things start falling apart then we'll have support in the other things we've developed... let's say I lost my job and couldn't afford my mortgage for a month - I'm sure my friends and family would help me out in a heart beat... and I'd do the same for them.

Serious question: What if you don't lose your money, friends, family, country or whatever else... what if the one thing you lose is your sharp wit or maybe some of your memory; parts of your mind that you worked hard to build. What will you have then?

You are both COMPLETELY wrong. I knew my wife was "the one" from the moment I meet her. There was never ever any doubt that I would spend the rest of my life with her. To the point that I told my mother (who objects to almost everything that is taking a risk, and btw has been married three times) that I was going to marry her about 4 weeks after we started dating, even though I did not propose for about 8 months. We have now been happily married for 13 years among marriages that we have seen implode after 6 months. The reason we have lasted, and will last, so long is because we talk to each other. Hell, Boredalt has been married for almost twice as long as I have and I bet he has the same answer I did.
