You don't have "professions". You have empty ambition, which, like my own, hasn't come to fruition for want of age and experience. Like me you obviously think yourself superior to those around you - if you didn't why would you think yourself rational in harboring such ambition? Why would you apparently regard your ambition as a sure deal and not something you are merely hoping for whether you're actively working on it or not?
I may not yet, but callysta does. What started this shitstorm was you saying that her profession and her accomplishments are essentially meaningless. You do not have a right to bash someone else's profession or their prospects.

Again, realistically you have no interest in "helping" others. I do not need to prove this, it is eminently apparent, and even you won't deny that after you've done what you need to do to get through med school, your focus will be on pulling down the big bucks.
I'm sorry you grew up in surroundings that make you think this way. Is it because of your father? His motives? Sorry, but I have been instilled with morals that are aren't seen as often in this country anymore - parents mean everything and that you take nothing with you. To this end, just in case there is a God, I plan to be judged by Him based on what I have done to help the world, not how much money I made. Believe what you want, I really don't care.

You certainly would still more than get by. Or are you going to spend the overwhelming majority of your time charging extortionate prices for expensive procedures to the relative elite that can afford them? If radiology and surgery paid as much as being a librarian, would you still work in those fields? If you had a choice between setting up practice in a neighborhood where 95% of the population is going to pay with Medicaid or an HMO, or one where nearly everyone has a good insurance plan, which would you choose? Which scenario do you think is more likely?
1) How about both? Grey area. Maybe I'm planning on general practice before I specialize? And I choose to specialize because those fields are the most interesting to me as of now. Of course that might change when I do my clinical rotations.
2) Of course, medicine is more fulfilling and interesting than being a librarian. I don't think that checking out someone a book is as satisfying as saving someone's life or giving back a big part of it. Only the lazy, greedy, and desperate would choose that route and I am none of those.
3) Thanks to Obama's healthcare plan, everyone will be insured in one way or another. If you mean now, then where I would set up practice would more depend on other factors such as commute, convenience, practicality, etc. Of course the payment options of my patients would count, but would not be the deciding factor. Saying otherwise is akin to asking you would you work for other people's happiness and be willing to not get paid? Only an idiot would say no; compassion and care doesn't mean you have to go totally unrewarded in a tangible manner.
You believe everything is for the money. That's fine, but with me it's not. And I don't see how I could be any more clear about that. Arguing this serves no purpose anymore. Talk it over with your dad, I'm not wasting my time on this issue any further.

You still haven't told me why you think I am a bad person or given any better reason to believe that you are likely to outpace me in life other than some internships. And why would your judgment be so credible? Aren't you being wholly hypocritical in your self-affirmation of your judgment of me in contradicting the many who know me and approve by putting more stock in your own perception of me through no other medium than an internet forum? Why should you believe what you do about me when there are so many others who would disagree?
-You have attempted to belittle many people here on the forums for no reason.
-You are an asshole, for no reason, to people you meet in real life (bus dude, professors, etc).
-You think so low about your parents.
-You think highly only of yourself.
-You are a dick but think yourself clever instead.
-You think of people as filler. What is wrong with you?
-You do not show even the smallest amount of respect for anyone. People don't have to earn it first, you should give everyone you interact with basic respect. Whether or not they get to keep that respect is on them.
I really think you and I could have some great debates and discussions. But you like to make things personal, to try and break people from within. As you can see, it will not work with me and you will not get what you want just by continuing this conversation. I'm not that GM, I'm not that fat guy on the bus.
Why am I bashing you and nobody else? I'm sure not everyone's GPA is a 4.0 or will become a doctor. I don't because nobody else is as big a dick as you. I don't care about your credentials until you try and belittle others' when you have none yourself. Want to start anew?
