I actually own that movie for some reason. My excuse is I'm probably the only person here who understands the dialogue (what little there is of it, ha ha ha).

Also, I'm curious for the sake of asking uncomfortable questions/making uncomfortable comments, but I take it any Ren Faire (I've never been to one, believe it or not) isn't too big on historical accuracy, yeah? Otherwise entry would be limited to Western European-looking dudes.

Yah, it's far from historical accuracy :P Ours has at least 2 troupes of faeries, a troll that lurks under the bridge that leads to the jousting grounds (though he died two years ago :(((( ), etc. I dress up as a gypsy, el oh el, because I figure I can kinda pass as one.

and super disappointed, Lost Isles just went down while I was about to transform into a furry.

one of my chef-instructors is a frenchman, and we get into it almost daily. there also is, however, a french-canadian at school, and we drop everything to tease him when we can.

French-Canadians sound almost as silly as Belgians when they speak my language. They're also usually harder to understand.

This reminds me of two Belgians who were in my guild in Vanilla.

The one chick spoke broken English with a heavy accent, which resulted in innuendos she was unaware of and "wat" when she called something in the middle of a fight. I was going to say I can't remember the name just now, but it just came to me - Gwen - 99% sure that's it.

Kfcmage, other Belgian who was friends with Gwen translated a lot of things between us and her.

One of the Frenchy-type chefs I had for an instructor at one of my Johnson & Wales courses insisted that French cuisine was superior (no bias there, surely), and would always get into a twist when I observed how odd it was that for every French place you could find, no matter how good it was, there were at least a dozen Italian places close by that people would rather eat at regardless of the quality.

This usually degenerated into an argument about how there wouldn't be any French cuisine if not for the people on the boot-shaped peninsula inventing half the foods and techniques it relies on and how only deviants would eat snails and horse.

Too bad I got recalled and couldn't finish the course. He and I had a blast.

This may come as a huge shock, but Italians mostly ate fish until other, better explorers discovered tomatoes and other, better countries traded them some meat.

It's okay to be jealous though. I realize we invented fine cuisine (hell, the fucking word for it is French) and you're all still bitter.

PS: Horse is still delicious and you're missing out.

There is a shitload of fish in some of the more authentic Italian cuisine, but the country is surrounded on three sides by water, so that shouldn't be surprising.

I've come to the conscious decision that I'm going to start eating fish as my main source of protein as opposed to chicken and beef.

Fish is just more flexible tbh

I think I'd get tired of fish every day unless it was canned tuna and smoked salmon on rotation. And peppered, smoked mackerel. That stuff rules. Come to think of it most non-white fish are pretty great, and even the white ones like flounder and tilapia are tasty if done right. I'd still have a hard time giving up pork.
