Heard an interesting story on NPR today about female pop singers and their on-stage personas. The story also commented a bit on 'our' generation and it's usage of different personas online. Do you guys feel like you display a different persona on FUBU/WoW/MSN/etc than you do irl?

I know I do, Zaryi/Nike/Veraiya/Irikah/Kira is definitely more outgoing and forward than Simone. I know I feel more confident online and am must less shy, if not as articulate online.

I have an easier time being a douche to people I don't know online.

Not really. My humor is a little less ribald out in the real world, but only because people are easier to offend.

I'm basicly the same, but I do try to give each of my chars a different persona. Sparkle is flamboyant and cocky, Necra is the asshole/badass/mother fucker, Steak is the stoic champion. The other two chars don't really have one though.

Is that wierd? It seems kinda wierd. It's something Dashe and I both did.

Sort of. I act differently on the internets than I do with close friends than I do with acquaintances than I do at work than I do with family than I do with a girlfriend than I do with...

I don't know if it would be considered a persona as much as it would be just acting what is generally considered appropriate for the situation. It's not like I lady gaga it out online.

I make far less nerd jokes unless Meowth is around.

But otherwise the same.

-/-/-/-
I've thought about this before. I've been asked why I'm still nice to random fucks online.

I've got no reason to be a douche. But I do like being... eh, what's a word I can use... guttermouthed. But I won't say things (most of the time) that are asshole-ish. Anything said that could be taken as asshole-ish is in jest.

But yeah, swear a lot IRL and too damn nice for my own good.

I'm a hell of a lot different IRL at first.

Def not as goofy/idiotic until you get to know me. And i'm definitely more closed off irl and less outgoing IRL.

I bottle up my RL rage and unleash sporadically on the internet. That's probably the only significan difference.

Tbh i'm probably more closed off on the internet, because people seem less outgoing and more cliquey. In real life people seem to be bound by some social code to just be friendly and by and large not assholes. The internet by contrast is full of shitcocks.

I'm the same both on and off, perhaps only difference is the internet gives you a few more seconds to articulate a thought better than in real-life/real-time. Otherwise, I'm the same online or offline.

Playing WoW again in 2018, kill me, thanks

I'm pretty much a prick everywhere I pop up, which seems to be the reason people enjoy my company, oddly enough.
