Holy shit what a bad movie.

I'm watching the Rifftrax of it while I set up my new computer and... wow. God. I mean this is an aggressively terrible movie. It's almost as if M Night was angry with the world and this was his revenge.

not even the Rifftrax makes that movie anything remotely resembling watchable.

God I hope after that fiasco that M.Night stops getting work, tired of hearing about his shitty movies.

As horrific as Airbender was (and it was), happening was worse. The script for Airbender was probably a little worse (except wtf hotdog guy and lemon drink crazy lady), but the acting in Happening was just... abysmal. I've seen better acting in student films. And at least Airbender had some legit effect, not WHOOOOOOSH omg the wind.

edit: Also, he has a trailer out right now for a movie called Devil which looks just as dumb as you expect from him.

Sorry Dek, Airbender was actually quite good if you watch the cartoon series. I have two kids who love that show and I have watched every episode with them. The acting was a little off/cheezy at times but I liked it.

The Happening was horrible. I had to set up an HD projector in our auditorium at work. Of course I hooked up the HD cable box first so I could watch tv while I ran the rest of the wires/cleaned up my mess and it was on. I watched it all the way through just to see when it got better, and it never did. I really wish I had that two hours of my life back.

9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.

When I think of The Happening, I can't help but thinking of . . .

Aside from the terrible quality, the opening looks like something he would do.

To me, the Happening is so bad, it's almost awesome in it's terribleness.

Sometimes I wonder if M. Night was even trying to be serious at all making that movie...if he was...yikes.

Favortie parts:

1. When that kid just gets blown away by that shotgun...so not necessary, and quite hilarious.

2. Mark Wahlberg - When he goes into the whole "analyze the situation....identify the variables....WILL YOU JUST GIVE ME A SECOND TO THINK" lololol Basically his acting in the whole movie is just priceless in it's awfulness.

3. When they run from the wind. That is by far the best part in the whole film. I can't think of another film where people actually run away from the wind....


On a side note, M. Night is depressing, because I think he's the classic example of someone who had limitless potential, and then let arrogance and narcissism ruin it all.

Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and even Signs (aside from the huge plot hole that the aliens whose one weakness is water came to a planet that is 70% water....)

Were excellent/enjoyable films (imo). The Village even had its moments. I'm not sure when he fell off the wagon and just started making utter shit films...but he did, and I don't think he can ever get back on.

He has literally spent all the good will he built up from his first few films...when that Devil trailer came on the other day in the theatre...once M Night's name was shown, people in the audience laughed and I heard one guy go "boo!"

That's how you know he's ruined his career.

To everyone who thinks Airbender was a bad movie...go watch the series. Then watch the movie again.

I have never liked an M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie before, and I don't particularly like some of the things he did in Airbender. Like the fact that Zuko and Iroh aren't even the same nationality is a little troubling. But it was very true to the TV series, and maybe not having the understanding of the series is why everyone pans it.

What bums me the most is with all the negative reviews it's gotten, they will likely not go forward with books 2 and 3. You all do realize that was only 1/3 (or less) of the whole story, right?

That's interesting, I thought that most fans of the TV series hated the movie as well?
