To everyone who thinks Airbender was a bad movie...go watch the series. Then watch the movie again.

I have never liked an M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie before, and I don't particularly like some of the things he did in Airbender. Like the fact that Zuko and Iroh aren't even the same nationality is a little troubling. But it was very true to the TV series, and maybe not having the understanding of the series is why everyone pans it.

What bums me the most is with all the negative reviews it's gotten, they will likely not go forward with books 2 and 3. You all do realize that was only 1/3 (or less) of the whole story, right?

I don't think the story was bad. I think the script was bad, the blocking was bad, the directing was bad, and the editing was bad.

Basically, all the things that were M Night's responsibility were bad.

Favortie parts:

1. When that kid just gets blown away by that shotgun...so not necessary, and quite hilarious.

2. Mark Wahlberg - When he goes into the whole "analyze the situation....identify the variables....WILL YOU JUST GIVE ME A SECOND TO THINK" lololol Basically his acting in the whole movie is just priceless in it's awfulness.

3. When they run from the wind. That is by far the best part in the whole film. I can't think of another film where people actually run away from the wind....

Admittedly, my favorite parts were influenced by the rifftrax commentary...

4. The man professing his admiration of hot dogs.

5. The sign as they leave the model home. It's the name of the new neighborhood, and the slogan is "YOU DESERVE THIS!" They decided it was M Night telling us he made the movie to punish his audience, and they deserve it.

6. Mark Wahlberg's single facial expression. The entire movie.

I don't know what you chumps are smoking, but to even begin to compare the terrible movie to the pinnacle of human achievement in storytelling that was the animated series, you have to be completely braindead. The show is incomparably fantastic. The movie would have been better if I'd been directing with my ass and had written the script out of literal pieces of shit.

Also who the fuck is Ovatar Ong? What the fuck is an ovatar? Who the shit are Soeka and Eeroh? Fuck you, The Last Airbender, fuck you for trying your hardest to ruin something so great.

also Mark Wahlberg in a non-action role just made me laugh from start to finish, although not really because that would have made the shitfest that was the Happening slightly more bearable. He also sounds like a pansy retard in that movie.

This x99999999

The cartoon was really great, it had a story to tell and told it well. The movie was Shamalan taking a shit on everything that made it good.

Part of the reason that Airbender was a million times worse than the Happening was that it had a foundation for it, all he had to do was translate it to film version and he failed miserably at it.

That's interesting, I thought that most fans of the TV series hated the movie as well?

Okay, so I was right, most fans of the series did hate the movie. Also...that made me lol. I'm pretty sure M Night was directing with his ass.

This I can agree with.

I went into it with really low expectations because it was a shamalamadingdong movie, maybe that's why I liked it so much...it wasn't 100% revolting. The basic scripting was very good, and more or less true to the series. I would have to agree that everything shamalamadingdong touched was absolutely for the worse. I don't think it deserved the 3% rottentomatoes gave it, but it surely would have been better with a real director calling the shots. Possibly even great.

Now I have to wait 'till December for Tron.

i don't get why everyone is so balls deep over airbender anyways. not knocking the cartoon series, as it's pretty good despite my first impression. but to say it's the "pinnacle of human achievement in storytelling" made me guffaw irl.

I'm watching it now, and umm...

Yeah what Tuhl said. It's good to the point where I've been no-lifing the past couple days watching the series. Taking notes tbh.

I've still come across a couple parts where I go - "how does that make sense?". There's a part (probably a couple) where Aang is running from someone, but earlier in the series he's depicted running as fast as the wind.

Also, Toph is probably one of my favorite characters from anything.

-/-/-/-

Oh, and the whole "nobody dies on screen, we all just subdue each other while swinging deadly weapons" makes me want to punch a baby. Fucking kiddification.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

As a fanatic of the animated series, I must say that I wanted to punch myself in the penor for having sat through the last airbender. I saw it for free since my girl works at the theater, went in with as open a mind as possible, and was CRUSHED by the overwhelming terribadness. I've been looking forward to that movie since it was announced over a year before it released, and I am now currently re-watching the series for the 5th time to get the bad taste of the last airbender out.

EDIT: Ong, Soe-ka, and Eeroh were the least of my concerns. How about the firelord caring for his son, the firebenders being Indian, Team Avatar being white, no character or relationship development (why does katara care so much for a kid she met a day ago?). I could go on and on, but time to get back to the series.

EDIT 2: That was a long edit.
