While typically I wouldn't even justify a post in a thread like this (because it just sets me up to be labeled as some sort of horrible person), I just wanted to give a different perspective on the "situation."
Simply put: there being a new phoenix won't make yours, or anyone else's, phoenix any less special than a player might already think it is. Those players who "players who mindlessly zerg ICC and farm heroics for hours" are no more or less deserving of anything than you or I are - they're paying the same subscription fee, and I don't know about you but I'm not paying mine in gold bullion or huge tracts of land, so I really don't expect any sort of special treatment. There's really no difference in the grand scheme of things between the guy who got lucky on his guild's first 40-player Kael'thas kill and someone who has diligently farmed the guy every week since Burning Crusade launched - you could say that the first guy was more "deserving" and is more "special" because he got it back when it was hard, or you could side with the latter and say that his "hard work" and "determination" paid off. It still doesn't change the fact that it's a digital item in a digital video game that should be obtained for one sole reason: personal enjoyment.
Of course, I totally respect your opinion and wish only to share my own, as well - I suggest to you (and everyone else out there on the Cataclysm QQ train) to stop worrying about what other people think and enjoy your possessions (digital or otherwise) for yourself. It'll make the whole thing a lot easier.
BTW, the expansion is going to be freakin' awesome. Stop worrying about trivial shit.
Also, sorry but I'm locking the post on account of extreme QQ/trolling. If you want to view this as my being a jerk and not allowing you to reply in your defense, you're more than welcome to email me and call me a jerk privately.
A forum ceases to be relevant when it cannot allow dialogue. Words in a thread harm no one...except perhaps Blizzard interests.

That wasn't my argument at all. I said nothing about my own mount being less special. My point wasn't that it devalued what I had, it was that it appealed to a negative element of the playerbase.
To lock a thread then close with
your own opinion by way of inaccurately restating the opinion of the OP isn't moderation, it's editorializing, and it's also unfair since you're distorting what was said.

And what if we do worry? Why shouldn't we worry? Do we need to be told to not worry?
Maybe we'll like the expansion and maybe we won't but why should we assume it's going to be awesome? Big, expensive things by big companies flop all the time.

QQ, trolling? I stated my opinion, nothing more. It was lucid and logically written. If you or anyone else doesn't agree with what I wrote...well, you're free to your opinion...but what's the
harm in what I stated?
Why must I reply privately? What
harm is there in public debate?
How many threads do we have with a relatively specious basis, or complaining about this or that in the game, and how many end with not only a lock but also an editorial about the issue?
Of course it is your prerogative delete the thread and ban me from posting. In doing so, you're making it clear that you want a one-sided dialogue; you want the last word. If it was merely your intent to avert "trolling/QQ" you'd simply have locked the thread and refrained from editorializing...just as is the case with most "troll/QQ" threads.
So my question to you is: why?
99% sure I'll get banned from Wowhead forums for this. Oh well!
