NVM I'll pass on TB. I kind of like my wife and son. holy shit your guys/girls must only work/school and raid.

Damnit I hate when people say crap like that, it's not a lot of raiding. That's a normal raid schedule. The thing about being in any decent progression oriented guild is you don't usually NEED that much time, but you set it aside and schedule it in case you do. That is a progression schedule, and when you're pushing for top kills that's what you need to be able to dedicate in order to get the job done. Once the progression part is done for that tier of content and you're repeating kills easily then your raid time goes down to one or two nights, max. It always used to irritate me when RM had one of these schedules and anyone we denied always cried the whole "WHATEVER I HAVE A LIFE ANYWAY NERDS" rage explosion. If you want to progress you have to dedicate the time, if you don't want to dedicate the time then you don't want to be progressing you just want to be carried.

Not at you specifically thegodslayer just a general pet peeve of mine pls don't hurt me oh god.

No game is worth it. No game.

It's called LIFE people, LIVE it, don't sit in your basements for...let's see....25 hours a week...that's a part-time job. Yikes.

That kind of depresses me that humans would do that...think also that that's just raiding...people are probably playing other toons etc.

In the past I'd get burnt out on 10-15 hours of raiding each week. I did feel like it was a part time job that I'd rush home to partake in. But that's me. Some people don't get burnt out on WoW as easily as I do and they enjoy spending 25 (and more) hours a week raiding. Is a job really a job if you're doing what you love? If these raiders love the game that much then more power to them, I guess. Sure, I'll always balk when I see people with a /played that averages to more than 10hrs/day... probably because I'm jealous that I don't have that much time. /shrug

When I quit WoW, do you know what I replaced my WoW time with? XBL and other PC games. Yep. Life. It's awesome and I'm livin' it! :D

Five hours a night, five days a week is a very abnormally long raid schedule. Most raid guilds are in the 12-15 range, 20 at most. In all seriousness, I doubt TB raids that much except during progression, simply because they'd run out of content.

We have raided 5 hours a week for the past 2 and a half months.

When we were pushing for a top LK kill we raided that much.

And just about any high end raiding guild will have a raid schedule like that for progression. Casual guilds do not. Different goals entirely. Hell, guilds like Vodka raid way way more than we do.

Its a hobby for me. Before I absolutely destroyed my knee, I did lots and lots of taekwondo. That was another one of my hobbies, and I devoted 15-20 hours a week on average to that as well. Are you going to make the argument "Its a martial art, go out and do other things. Have a life, live it! Don't sit in a taekwondo school for 4 hours a day, thats a part time job, yikes!"? While I realize there is the whole physical activity distinction in this case, many common hobbies don't involve physical activity, but you wouldn't react in such a manner to them.

In addition, im sure many of you play the game a lot when you aren't raiding anyway. Working towards obscure achievements, playing the AH game, leveling an alt.. whatever it is you may do. You're still in the game 25 hours a week, just not raiding like I am.

Nah it's all good. To me 5 hours a night 5 days a week is a little excessive. Progression or not. I have probably spent a total across the board 50 hours and that is absolutely pushing it, in ICC since it has been out and I have gotten 9/12 on 10-Man (10/12 if you count my being brought in to kill LK one time). And 7/12 on reg. With most of those kills being pre 30% buff. Not exactly sure but I think they were with the 10%.

Some heroic bosses but nothing that merits any sort of credit. (Lootship ROFL)

So lets do some math here.

Let's say that TB spent half of what they stated as their raid schedule:

12.5 hours x 37 weeks (give or take a few) = 462.5 hours = 19.27 days

50 hours \ 37 weeks = 1.351................Hours a week or 2.08 days

They have downed all the bosses on both heroic and regular.

I have downed most of the regular bosses on 10 and some on 25. If I doubled my time I could have cleared regular 10 and 25, I am confident enough in my raiding skill as well as being able to pick a stable group. You can ask most that come to my raids as few and far between as they are, I tend to weed out the trash. Every once in a while I miss one or two but once I see they suck they get kicked/replaced and are not invited back.

I am not in any way trying to demean the effort all of them have put in, just pointing out the fact that sure there is a necessity for consistency but sucking 19 entire days out of less than a year of my life is excessive to me.

Heroic is another story it would have probably taken me way longer than their time if I were to even complete it with pugs (I highly doubt it ever would have happened.)

Well normal mode was all instantly cleared the moment it was released. All 1 day things. Heroic was mostly the same way with the exception of two bosses, so even then.. we only hit longer raid hours when we were doing H PP and H sindra, and then H LK for the first time

I think it just comes down to what is important to people.

Going out, hanging with friends IRL, playing piano...etc. are what matters to me.

I just couldn't justify ever giving that much time to a video game where all your rewards are pixels and all your gear becomes obsolete as each new expansion is released. It's the ultimate form of running a rat-race that you can truly never win.

Couple that with what some people have discussed in here as hardcore raiding guilds where most people hate each other and it's all business...I just don't see how someone could ever dedicate themselves to such a lifestyle.

I mean hey, Akiina, more power to you, and when you look at your shiny achievements and mounts I'm sure you swell with pride. It's just not for me.

That's the one thing I like about how Blizz has changed the game...I have been able to see all the bosses and defeat them in this expansion, and never had to devote that kind of time (where as in TBC and before, you had to just to see the bosses). I think that's the way it should be.

A normal raid schedule is 8-12. They've got an hour too many.

Not that anyone actually needs that much time to full clear these days.

once upon a time, you had a hardon for raiding and posted an anonymous post about <Twisted>.

Don't forget where you were when you reflect upon where you are.
