Vampires were once one of the most badass things on the planet. Now, hollywood and horny pre-teens have destroyed what was a previously kick ass genre. Weather it's books/movies that shit on years of vampire lore (the sun now makes vampires sparkle, not spontaneously combust), or TV shows that just suck a fat sloppy smelly dick (if you drink vampire blood...you get a crazy high and start wanting to fuck everything with a pulse....thanks "True Blood")


Good Vampire Works:

-Anne Rice novels - "Interview with a Vampire" "The Vampire Lestat" "Queen of the Damned"
-Dracula (the original book by Bram Stoker)
-Nosferatu
-The Lost Boys (so 80s...with the Coreys and Keifer Sutherland, but awesome nonetheless)
-Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In) - Amazing Swedish novel/film. It is being remade in America as "Let Me In" which will no doubt suck.
-Old School Buffy (I'm willing to debate this one, but I did like older Buffy episodes)
-Interview with a Vampire - film - While not the best vamp movie ever, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise were solid. Kirsten Dunst was also creepy as hell.

Shitty Vampire Works:

-Twilight (books/movies)
-True Blood
-The Vampire Diaries
-Later Buffy Seasons (can any hardcore Buffy fan tell me when that show just fell off the wagon, because I know it did...I'm just not sure when?)
-Bram Stoker's Dracula (the one with Keanu Reeves...holy crap what a shitty movie...Keanu Reeves trying to do an English accent causes me physical pain)
-Once Bitten (Jim Carrey's first starring role in 1985...terrible)
-BloodRayne (Uwe Bol...need I say more?)

I did enjoy Castlevania on the GameBoy, I also didn't mind the N64 version.

I actually love true blood, its just a good show. Dont ask me why, i just cant stop watching it.

Yikes. I watched a few episodes with my cousin a while back...I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.

People drinking vampire blood and getting horny etc...okay.

Then the main character (Anna Paquin right...the girl from that Geese flying movie...is pretty terrible) was running through a graveyard, and her vampire boyfriend crawls out of the dirt, and grabs her...then they just start fucking in the graveyard and he's all covered in dirt etc.

At that point I was just like, "okay, I'm out"

I guess I hate knowing when I'm being pandered to. True Blood is just trying to make everyone horny and show all this outrageous vampire sex...so much so that it makes it retarded.

On a side note...it's like those Dos Equis commercials. They try too hard. Like, okay, they have this guy who's supposed to be the coolest guy in the universe...wtf. Stop marketing to me. I know you're doing it, and it's not working.

I admit aloit of is fucking retarded, like the abundance of sex in the first season (which i didnt watch, i started in #2) and that part and other wird ass uneeded stuff i ignore. Behind thwe fucked up shit i actually really get into it, dont ask my why or how, i just do.

True blood is deliberately camp, which i like.

anything that takes the piss out of twilight fans is good by me.

I started in season 2 of True Blood too, I think it's a good show, except the goof ball turbo sex scenes, though even those are good for a laugh.

So from what you all are saying, True Blood doesn't take itself seriously, and knows it's ridiculous?

If that's the case, then perhaps I need to give it another look.

I wouldn't say true blood doesn't take itself seriously. I think its a quite serious attempt to make money from the adult twilight vampire crowd.

It doesn't deserve a first look, let alone a second one.
