Was hilarious, some french mailman from the rivierra and gets moved to calais (the north) which is supposed to be the asshole of france, but is really nice.

On the way up north, hes going like 30 in a 100 zone, a cop pulls him over,asks why hes going so slow, and the man says "im being sent to the north". The cop pats him on the shoulder, says hes sorry and lets him go. Just to give you an idea.

Probably the only foreign film i've seen. Actually i've seen heaps of French ones but i don't remember them as films in the same sense since i was only watching for academic reasons.

Das Boot is the only acceptable answer to this question that does not involve Kurosawa's 7 Samurai.
